  • Fed seen holding rates this week with hike still on horizon

    From reuters.com

U.S. Federal Reserve policymakers are expected to hold interest rates steady when they meet this week, but may tweak their description of the economic outlook to reflect more benign conditions, leaving the path open for future rate rises. The Fed raised its policy interest rate last December for the first time in a decade when market volatility finally subsided in the wake of a scare over China's economy. Similarly early this year markets wobbled on worries about a slowdown in global economic growth and weak U.S. corporate earnings, leading to expectations for further Fed rates rises to be revised down, so Fed ... My opinion is that Fed will raise rates on Wednesday. SP500 will falter slightly for a couple months then rebound, as it did after the last hike. And everyone will start talking about how the Fed will never raise rates again.

Based on fundamentals you all have access to via Economic Calendar, no one should think
the FED is not in control. What I see on the international level is some kind of a "favor" is
being carried out among the 5 most powerful economies of our time. Let one currency "rise" or "fall" for a while then it's the other's turn for a while. Sounds crazy ? Just observe currency moves in light of ' who benefits' the most ? Right now we (USA) are "pleasing" China so they don't go belly up. Therefore, a rate hike is NOT an option.
Good luck trading !

Rate Up = helping China, US lose
Rate hold = kill USD but actually more beneficial to US economy
Rate down = helping the world, US lose

What do you think?

Lowering the rates will severely damage the Fed's Credibility, and increasing seems out of the picture for Wednesday simply because market pressure and global currency wars don't offer the incentives to do so. Every country and their mother are conducting easy monetary policy yet the US is diverging. It's good that it started and I think a rate hike was long overdue, but I think Yellen is wise in the pace she is taking, because it helps companies with a depreciating dollar. I think the economy really needs a bearish dollar.

I dont think they dare another hike this year after December's one.
Market doesnt think so either according to http://humbletraders.com/fed-watch/
They will rather wait for other banks to go deeper into negative rates first.

Honestly hiking rates too soon would create too much of a divergence from other central banks.
