China’s March Exports Rise 18.7% on Year, Boosting Growth Outlook
• Shipments jumped 18.7%, imports moderated drop to 1.7% • Data add to recent signs of stabilization in economy China’s exports rose in March after plunging at the start of the year and declines in imports narrowed on recovering commodity prices, boosting the outlook for growth. Overseas shipments jumped 18.7 percent in yuan terms from a year earlier, compared with a 21 percent slump in February. Imports extended a streak of declines to 17 months while the drop narrowed to 1.7 percent, leaving a trade surplus of 194.6 billion yuan ($30 billion).
