IMF complains about RBA's $A talk
The US Treasury has aired a complaint that the Reserve Bank of Australia's discussion of the Australian dollar could be out of line. The complaint was referred to in a report to the US Congress on Monday and came not from the Treasury itself but from the US executive director on the International Monetary Funds's executive board. The report refers to an unpublished statement from the office of the US executive director (OUSED) which "had expressed concern over the (Australian) authorities' public statements on the desired direction of the exchange rate".
