Globally, monetary policy remains very accommodative and is supporting economic activity, although inflation remains below most central banks’ targets. The US Federal Reserve raised the federal funds rate target in December for the first time in nearly 10 years, although the stance of policy in the United States remains very accommodative and the pace of future rate increases is expected to be very gradual.
