  • University dropout becomes a stockbroker after using his student loan to start trading and now earns £30,000 on a BAD month - working one hour a day

    From dailymail.co.uk

A university drop-out who taught himself to become a stockbroker claims he earns between £20,000 and £30,000 on a bad month. Elijah Oyefeso, 21, started by using his student loan and now trades on the stock market for just one hour a day to earn his income. Elijah, from Camberwell, London, now lives in a £5,000-a-month flat and his weakness is super cars, with his most recent purchase a £125,000 Mercedes GTS. He told FEMAIL: 'On a good month, I earn between £70,000 and £80,000.' Elijah said: 'If you work hard you don't need to look at the price tag, you just get it.' Elijah claims he bought his first Mercedes ... (full story)

Are they that desperate for fresh capital? Enticing students to use their student loan for trading is not decent at all!

And this storyline that says a guy earns 30k monthly, purchases a car for 125k and still lives in a RENTED apartment? What a BS!

On the other hand the more fresh capital we have, the better for us old horses out there ..... yes I know I have no moral but if you let yourself be slaughtered, that should not be my business.....right?

This is so not real. I plan my trades and take 60 to 90 minutes each day. I still have to wait for the setup to appear. If the alarms go off I check to see if it can be traded. Bottom line is you wait for the alarms.

Basically he sells signals for £90 per month and takes a commission from the Binary Option brokers for each trade his clients place.

Could be legit and there is an incentive for him to provide good signals if he is getting commission on the trades placed (the more trades and the longer his clients stay around the more he earns) but it all has the feel of a volume marketing game taking the signal money and commissions until his clients bust out.

The channel 4 documentary was a major marketing push for him, got the company name in there and I bet he has been flooded with people wanting to buy signals!

I haven't tried but I assume it's not that easy (anymore?) to get a mortgage if your income is from trading. If he wants to buy in Kensington 20 or 50k a month over 3 years or so won't get him very far in terms of cashbuy.

Same concept as the hilarious Tim Sykes who claims he turned his Bar Mitzvah gift money in 2 million bucks trading penny stocks. Tim's approach works because newbies are insecure and see this guy with chicks around him in the penthouse of a hotel drinking champagne all day long and they want the same, who wouldn't ?

How he really makes his money is not by trading but selling bogus education material and Elijah will probably have the same plans and will likely be very successful with it.

You can't be a legit quant with a high school education... so this dude is a "broker" who sells random information to degenerate gamblers who can't tell the difference between statistically significant and complete bullshit.

This is exactly what every stockbroker and forex dealer does on a larger, more professional scale. If you ever learn one thing = "your broker in not your friend".

Being realistic, and cynical about people's claims, is not "negative", merely realistic. And I have not found Nigerians, in general, to be very truthful in unverifiable statements.

Ponzi, Madoff and the likes - scammed "optimists" who believed unbelievable claims. Email scamming Nigerians still find "optimists" who are willing to do illegal things in return for ill gotten gains.
The difference (not really a difference in the criminality of their actions) between them, is Ponzi , Madoff and the likes are rare in Western society, while Nigerian email scammers are too many to count. The first ones - when caught - makes the news. The latter cannot be caught because their actions are considered just good business in Nigeria.

If you trust the source of the news, "The Daily Mail" for in depth financial reporting, I assume you also get your true romance stories from Hustler or Playboy Letters?

My comment also refers to your perception of "true" reporting.

You are right, I WOULD be very jealous if it was even remotely true, but since I do not think it is, I am certainly not.

Only you know by what measure crooks, swindlers and all the corrupt banksters undermining the world economy are rare "in western society".
And you are also to tell me by which means a London born, grown and university drop out is a Nigerian.

I think stock trading actually can make you get rich quick from an young age. I tried it at my second year in Uni with my student loans, and I quadrupled my money making thousands, that was until I got over confident and put all my money into one penny stock that did not go according to plan. Then a chain of reaction occured, bad trade after bad trade, until I stopped trading with only enough money to buy food and pay rent for.
