The Federal Reserve meets on Wednesday and Thursday to decide if it will end the era of 0% interest rates first introduced in December 2008 in its effort to stimulate growth and inflation in the wake of the global financial crisis. Currently, the consensus is expecting the Fed to keep rates unchanged. However, there are many economists with high conviction that the Fed will indeed hike rates in its latest policy statement set for release at 2:oo p.m. ET on Thursday. The market would be surprised.
