Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in June indicates that economic activity has been expanding moderately in recent months. Growth in household spending has been moderate and the housing sector has shown additional improvement; however, business fixed investment and net exports stayed soft. The labor market continued to improve, with solid job gains and declining unemployment. On balance, a range of labor market indicators suggests that underutilization of labor resources has diminished since early this year. "The Committee anticipates that it will be appropriate to raise the target range for the federal funds rate when it has seen some further improvement in the labor market and is reasonably confident that inflation will move back to its 2 percent objective over the medium term".

Pretty much sums it up.

I'm just thankful I didn't have to read endless pages this time to come to the conclusion that nothing has changed

I would say gold rose from 1080 - after a strong fall = cheap market price be carefull shorting it for a long period of time

There's no guarantee they'll raise the rate in September, and while they've seemed to appreciate the "growth" they still are concerned with employment and inflation. I suspect they'll pop it up a 1/4 pt in September and watch the economy for a further year, then pop it up another 1/4 pt the following September.

Pay attention to details. Goals = stable prices + target employment. Ask self appropriate questions. Is inflation near or nearing target rate of 2% (price "stability")? No. Are employment numbers improving? Yes. Does the Fed want investors to plan for a rate hike? Yes. Does that mean rates will rise without inflation? Probably not.

Good analisys i think the same way as you do, if no inflation no rate hike so one has to keep an eye on energy even thought is not core inflation) and price of USD because the higher it goes it lowers the inflation rate.

First it was rate hike in March, then in June, then in Sept they can never really raise rates unless they want to intentionally crash all the bubbles Housing, Bonds, Stock. Not to mention making the big banks go insolvent.

Rate hike can just come as a saving grace to their credibility. Just so they can show we raised rates before they go on QE train again.

"Normal" appears as the fifth last word of the Statement and that paragraph says we are a long, long way from normal. So if you thought normal was very close, its a dovish and cautious statement. If you thought normal (in the Fed's eyes) was far away you were correct and also dovish. So a big message here is that "one step towards normal is not a giant leap to tighten". I get mostly dovish overall, don't you?

This won't be super bullish for USD, but will certainly be bearish for non-usd currencies as they remain the curve in terms of even talking about raising rates.
