Yes but now it's the creditors who are calling the shots and forcing Greece to take more money so that they can get paid because Greece still owes them the money from the previous bailout loans that they have given Greece. So basically they are giving Greece more money for them to pay off the loans that they have already given to Greece but at the same time forcing those "austerity" measures on Greece so they can't spend more money (just enough to import goods/services from the rest of the EU countries) like investing in infrastructures to develop Greece's own economy to make money themselves.

No they just want Greece to stay in EU to be free importers for the rest of the EU countries and they are using those "bailout loans" as their leash. And this is WHY Greek people have voted "NO" to more money so they can get out of the vicious cycle ad get their own economic autonomy back but ever since WHEN do they listen to the people?

So, I'm down the market and a bloke ask's me to lend him a fiver until next Tuesday

I say ok, but, I'll want 6 back

Next Tuesday arrives and I ask him for the 6 quid, he says he doesn't have it but, if I lend him 10 I can have the 6 back plus 6 more next Tuesday

At which stage I knock him out take his stock and sell it .. end of

Who's the idiot lending my (the taxpayers) money to the bloke (Greek chap) and why on earth are we trusting the EU and the IMF and the ECB with anything and ..etc, etc

Yes but you can't knock him out so the best you can do is force the bloke to take another 8 so you will get 6 back and you forgive the rest of the 4 and in the meantime you make the bloke promise that he cannot eat or drink anything except water everyday and he can only wear one shirt on his back and cannot buy or invest in anything else even including getting a job.

Now the bloke turns around and tell you "look mate, I don't want no money no more because I am dying from starvation and my family is dying so just let me keep the money that I have for me to invest on getting a job instead of all on paying you back and when I made enough I will pay you back I promise but I've not enough money to pay you back now"

You tell the bloke "NO freking way!!! You will either continue to take my money now to continuously pay me back or pay me back everything that you owe me NOW or I am going to your house and take everything that you have so you won't even have enough to buy water and you and your whole family will die a slow painful death within the next 5 days!!!

And then the bloke gives you the finger with his signature! LOL

Probably. That sentence looks like something that I would write but it must have been posted LONG time ago (when Sarkozy was still in office) so I don't really remember. Flattered to see somebody actually follows what I post that closely. LOL

That comment unfortunately was made before I realized what those EU "bailouts" truly entail to and what austerity was doing to the Greek people.

Ahh, got it... easier to do a bit of asking about pre the initial loan, then say no at that point ...

So, it's the IMF, ECB & Banks that are all dumb for lending the money, well, if I'm trading and I mess up at that level I lose money and then don't mess up again.. so the IMF, ECB & Banks Directors have a fiduciary duty to check out their debt issuance and should be held personally liable for the loan, thus sparing the Greek populace, Taxpayer money and Bond holders the Haircut.

So, here's a thought, take all the assets of the issuers of the debt, they didn't do due diligence and are now living high on the hog (tax free if your the IMF). Haircut the loan ensuring such dumb stupid decisions do not happen again.

As I understand it the powers that be are unhappy with using the justice system to prosecute the guilty and bring them to justice and the police are powerless as the Banking cartel are holding us all to ransom saying they will collapse the system if anyone moves against them...... has this threat ever been tested .. might be the time to do it ...

IMF and ECB are here besides commercial, also act as the lender of last resorts. They are there to help nations with the needs of money to get back on their feet.

FYI..

the IMF and ECB have very limited, tight and rule bound mandates as to terms and in what circumstances they can and cannot provide assistance. However they do work in a political environment. This leaves interpretation of their actions open to a political interpretation, when normally their actions are simply constrained by their own rules.

Because risk-management is central to many of these constraints, many decisions are judgement calls, so development of trust is a vital component in success. As is understanding these rules and navigating your negotiations to try to fit these constraints.

In this context Calling them "Terrorists" is probably not a good idea. LoL

I've no trouble with Greece (actually really like the people), I'm just trying to figure out where the buck stops. Cliff Edwards, thanks for the input but, if a Bank lends me money that makes me responsible, however, lending it to Spiros, who leaves office and hands it to Dmitri who gets fired leaving it to Apollo seems a pretty dumb way to leave money, not to mention the 3 IMF bosses 2 convicted of crimes and serving sentences the current one under criminal investigation in France.

Both sides of the deal seem to be criminal, but, the tax payer should not, under any circumstance be held responsible for the crime... without responsibility by Politico's and Bankers etc, no further money should be lent , anywhere and to anyone.... it seems as Swaps, Derivatives etc have grown responsible behaviour has shrunk, ergo a big message needs to be sent re . lending practice and trust or liquidity will evaporate as the original bloke in the market will just not lend, his suppliers will not lend etc , etc

We need to see the guilty in orange jump suits banged up , assets removed and sold etc or we'll end up in a financial situation with liquidity looking like water going down the plug hole in a sink
