    Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in April suggests that economic activity has been expanding moderately after having changed little during the first quarter. The pace of job gains picked up while the unemployment rate remained steady. On balance, a range of labor market indicators suggests that underutilization of labor resources diminished somewhat. Growth in household spending has been moderate and the housing sector has shown some improvement; however, business fixed investment and net exports stayed soft. Their Statement couldn't change the trend.. if you look from USDX daily tf, it clearly bullish.. "BUT" USD need a correction.. Stronger Dollar will become a problem to them.. so, they don't rise it now.. they will wait for a perfect time.. just wait and patience.. time will tell

Targeting 2% inflation and their own projections don't have it reaching there until 2017 http://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/files/fomcprojtabl20150617.pdf so why would you expect a rate rise this year?

Very dovish sentiment indeed.

3 key factors discussed - Employment, Inflation and the Sell Down of acquired QE assets - They are clearly in no hurry and saying it will not be this year!!

With the first quarter of 2016 being winter and their slowest quarter in terms of economic data, it becomes clear that the rate hike is unlikely before next June.

With the USD retracing from the recent high on the monthly chart, I would see this downward move continuing for some time to come!!

It's amazing to watch the data come out over time and then read a statement about how everything is wonderful. All we need is one more quarter of negative growth and it's a technical recession. Then they are going to raise rates? And Greece is about to carc it and take Europe down with it, and then we are going to raise rates? You can be sure of one thing, that those in charge expected to be competent and manage wisely in the financial sector will never do anything of the sort. Looking forward to a rate rise in September.

Yada, yada, yada. Everybody's telling Yellin NO -- so she says YES. Can you take this FED seriously? This woman could double the bubble if she gets too far out over her skis messing with what THEY created with artificially zeroed rates, and is now being globally copied as a successful template for "growth". They have little choice but to allow the world economy to grow itself out of this mess and let the markets find their own "correct" levels.

And I must add that this weak administration and their soft appointees have forced the drivers of our growth engine into a ditch -- and until we elect actual leaders rather than political ideologues who fit the data into their vision of where the world should be, we are royally screwed. Any business person or even a modestly educated individual out there should realize that we need our leaders to unleash American companies of all sizes through growth reforms (taxation, repatriation, enterprise zoning, trade and deregulation) or the simple fact is that we'll ALL be working for the Feds at a wildly inflated minimum wage in a big city near you. So DUMP these goofy Progressives and their crony politicians of any party, and get some new, citizen leaders in office at last.

100% agree with you and many others here. My take is this: it all depends who is in the White House. And we might not see a decision on rates until the elections are decided. Cheap money is good for the current administration. Keeps them in power. Should the Republicans win, the left leaning Fed will raise the very next day, blaming the shock to the system this will inevitable cause on the new party in power. :-) The TV watching and over-eating crowd of Americans will not know any better and agree. And the dance starts all over again. :-)

I quite agree, and the frustrating thing about this is that the Fed actually plays politics now. Listening to Yellen as I write this drives me nuts -- but it is clear enough that they will most likely tread water until, as you suggest, after the election. She would make a great bookend to Hillary -- but it would be a disaster for the country -- so here's hoping we can elect pro-business and just take the pain as she breaks her bubble and tears off the rate scab she's helped create. There will be blood, and any new pro-biz admin will receive the wrath of the MSM. What I am anxious to see is how the Fed evolves if the GOP controls all three branches. Should be fun.

the only reason for dollar getting selled off is cut in GDP forecast

The media doesn't like the facts. The most frequented words in the committee document were data, and, volatility. Those are the basic requirements for all monetary decisions. The dates are secondary.

It can mean any of the two possibilities: either the FED wants to verify the firm ground the economy is attaining, or it has its own doubts about the whole scenario. Time should tell.
