  • Euro Pah!: 6 Reasons For Selling EUR/USD Targeting 1.25 - Deutsche Bank

    From efxnews.com

Deutsche Bank is out with its periodical FX Blueprint today in which DB maintains its bearish EUR views advising clients to stay short EUR/USD targeting 1.25 by year-end. DB outlines 6 reasons behind this view: 1. Real Yields Are Finally Turning. Nominal rate differentials have been moving against the euro for a long time, but it is real yields that matter more. These finally turned this summer, coinciding with the last phase of ECB easing (chart 1). 2. Equity inflow story has peaked. The major flow story supporting the euro has been foreign equity purchases. Cheap valuations, a re-building of foreign underweights ... (full story)

Unless DB shows documentary evidence of their multi-lot position for heavy short on E/U I would consider that some under payed junior analyst had done some article - writing exercise.

Get ready for a retrace to wipe out the herd entering short because "the trend is down and Deutsche Bank and others said to sell to 1.25"

The weekly chart suggests we are currently at support. If 1.28 fails then there could be a long way to go, and 1.25 does not seem like any figure which can be justified - it will either be 1.26 or 1.20

The move to impose negative deposit rates was a big shot in the foot, IMHO. That has started the capital outflow. The thing which I have no data on is how much money can move? The balance of trade remains very supportive, I don't think that will be enough.....

I recall when eur-uas was at 1.24xx about 3 years ago they told us that EU would go to 1.15 Of course it ended up going all the way to 1.3999... As the first poster said, if these banks donīt show proof then I would not take their advice at all.
