  • China: the world's new economic model army?

    From theguardian.com

China isn't just a threat to US economic dominance – but the whole western democratic paradigm for success. According to research carried out by the International Comparison Programme for the World Bank, China is moving close to becoming as large an economy as the US. Its research, published last week, is the basis for the purchasing power parity (PPP) estimates that underline most comparisons between the world's economies. The evidence shows that by the end of 2011 China's economy was 87% the size of the US economy – and given the cumulative growth rates since, by the end of this year China might already be ... they need to pop the current humongus credit bubble, teach people not to spit anywhere and everywhere, obey the trafic rules, improve the education system, have reliable contract law, transparent and reliable accounting system, not discriminate aginst migrant workers in big cities and tackle pollution..oh well, I am tired. They have some work to do. though in 20 years China will be a different place. I live in Beijing and from my experience this place is a dystopian nightmare. When they unleash their consuming power and if they can start a green revolution, make social reforms then like I said in 20-30 years it will be a very different story. But as of right now, I can't even stand another day here..

Agreed, especially the bit about contract law. China is a big economy because it is breaking the Rules of the WTO, and it bullies other Asian countries. It owes $$ Billions to the US and UK in sovereign war debts, and will not pay, but it is OK for the myopic Chinese to steal two ships from Japan over war debts. I live in China and cannot wait to leave this place full of street spitters, train shitters and racist neanderthals.

"According to research carried out by the International Comparison Programme for the World Bank, China is moving close to becoming as large an economy as the US. "

But then it adds:

"It also follows that in international terms Chinese people are on average wealthier than we previously thought, though of course this tells us nothing about the level of inequality in China, which is currently a major challenge for its authorities. ..."

Here are key words, watch closely:

1. as large an economy as the US.

2. on average wealthier.

3. the level of inequality in China.

Who says this an economy model?

Compare this:

There are 4 glasses in group A, and 4 in group B.

Group A: 3 glasses are full of water, 1 glass is empty.

Group B: all 4 glasses are 3/4 full of water.

Which are better? Group A or Group B?
