Green shoots of wage growth? It hasn’t happened
After years of sluggish wage growth, some people are beginning to see signs that paychecks are growing again. But so far, the evidence for that is pretty thin. By most measures, wages are relatively flat, barely keeping up with inflation and falling steadily behind productivity improvements. Recently, however, there have been a few indications that wages could be ticking higher. For instance, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported earlier this month that median weekly earnings rose at the fastest pace in nearly six years.
