  • The poor should stop whining, says luxury CEO

    From hereisthecity.com

Nicole Miller CEO Bud Konheim has a message for all of the 99 percenters: you're luckier than you think. Konheim, CEO and co-founder of luxury-fashion company Nicole Miller, said on CNBC's " Squawk Box " on Wednesday that Americans not in the top 1 percent would be considered wealthy in most of the world. He said the 99ers should stop complaining and understand how lucky they are. "We've got a country that the poverty level is wealth in 99 percent of the rest of the world," he said. "So we're talking about woe is me, woe is us, woe is this." He added that "the guy that's making, oh my God, he's making $35,000 a year, ... (full story)

hahahahah so true ill-b-back!
its not so much the fact that people are rich that causes the issues, its the views that those 1% are staying there by taking away (unjustly) from the 99%.
that is a hard one too debate.

If he says should be so lucky why not join the 99%? Give away your money and be lucky too!

Its like me going to a 3rd world country and saying you should be lucky to have this mud pile, because in Africa you wouldn't even have this mud!
There are those who know, and there are those who don't know.

Mr Konman is absolutely right. Every 99%er US citizen makes 35k a year, therefore the rich bastards raising their families on Wall-Mart, MacDonalds, and the likes fat wages should STFU.

The problem with those people who make 35k per year is that they earn that money in US and spend them in US.
Bud Konheim would be right only if those people would work in US and would live in India or what ever country she is thinking of.
Life is more expensive in US and poverty is relative to the wealth of the society you live in.

If living in Amazonian Jungle without running water and sewage, some people are consider rich because they have a bigger hay house, that does not apply when you live in US.

Since Konheim is sooo concerned for the well-being of the 99% here is my advice to her to make her wish for them come true :
Militate for the complete eradication of the1%, which will make the 99% a lot wealthier. Here is the rational for this: remember how the 1% has culled over 30 trillion (with a T like in Trillion) dollars from the world economy to stash it in some private places, creating a financial blackhole that prevents the 99% to go forward.
So, Mrs Kohnheim, let's see what you're going to do about that.

I agree. People are NOT complaining that they are poor. People are complaining that they are UNFAIRLY poor because the rich took what belonged to the poor to make themselves rich. True, $35,000 a year makes you in the top 1% in the world but they should be making lot more than that and in fact the rest of the world should be making more than what they are making now.

Wealth of the billionaires:
5,431,810,000,000
http://www.forbes.com/sites/luisakro...-billionaires/

Number of people, 6.6 billion

Divide it up, $822 per person.

Start giving people in third world countries $822 each and watch inflation run rampant.

Then what? No more billionaires to rob. My guess is it would end up right back in the bank accounts of the people that held it originally.

Taking water from the deep end of the pool and dumping it in the shallow end doesn't help the shallow end get any deeper.

Unfortunately you are 100% right.

The super rich have bought and paid for governments all over the world, and are using them to force reversed socialism (whereby wealth is redistributed from the bottom to the top) upon everyone else.

u will not find a non complaining world.yes in us people's benefits are much better.
i don't agree with"The poor should stop whining, says luxury CEO" statement.
the amount of money poor pay back as tax is much more than richest.
in other countries which he is referring is much cheaper. mass transport, food and other essential things are much much cheaper.
this country is killing the middle class and other countries are creating middle class so that their economy will grow.if u don't pay your employ well how they spent.
i think he should study other growing nations pay. every year they increase according to the inflation

35K a year is not bad in the U.S. There are lot's of countries in the EU where that would be considered a normal wage. And the prices in the U.S. are so much lower.

For 35000$ I could hire 3-4 minimum wage workers in Estonia. And prices are a lot higher here than in the U.S.

I dare not think what kind on labour it would buy in South East Asia. 10-20 people ?

Bottom line. If all you can do is mop the floor or flip burgers you are s**t out of luck. In a globalized world we literally have hundreds of millions of people who can do that.

They didn't take anything that "belonged" to them, you don't have a right to anything.

How are they robbing you? If they are then call the police and file a report.

When you are born you own nothing, unless your parents give you something or you get it on your own. So I would like to understand how the rich rob the poor. You guys are so misguided. Its government policies and taxes that are robbing you, not the rich.

Yeah like the police is going to do something for you. Chances are you are going to be arrested instead of them if you really file that report. Since when has the police helped the poor against the rich? And HOW the government policies and taxes have been set up to rob the poor? Isn't it a coincidence that they somehow are never set up to rob the rich? It's because the rich has used their money to get those lobby groups to make the government to set up policies and tax laws to protect their wealth and make sure the poor pay more than they should and get less in return and they, in turn, pay less for the same service that the poor enjoys. How's it in the tax law that every single loophole just "happens to be" every bit useful for the rich and yet is completely useless for the poor? How's it that a single mother who lives on welfare who receives government assistance payments and yet those assistance payments is still 100% taxable and yet when this douche of rich CEO in this article buys his third million-dollar mansion for his mistress and then dumped the mansion on the market when he dumped his mistress, his capital gains is only 25% taxable? How's it that everything that this single-mother has to pay taxes on every single penny of her income once her income is $1 over the threshold of the poverty line (which is set way below the standard of living for a human being) and this douche rich CEO gets to pay 0 taxes when all he had to do is to call his income by a different name?

And NO, it's NOT true that when you are born, you necessarily own nothing. Plenty of people owned already millions & even billions even BEFORE they were born. And in the race to get rich, that give them a head start and the playing field unlevel. And that is NOT right and that gives us the poor every single right to complain. I will only shut up if they let me into their club.

Express your anger against the politicians then. Rich people and poor people will always want something from government, but its the governments responsibility to not give any favours to any group whatsoever.

LOL maybe she should find a job and not be on welfare, the government shouldn't even be giving welfare. I grew up with a single mother, she actually worked instead of sitting on her ass and collecting taxpayer money. Or maybe she should have thought more carefully and not even had a child if she can't support it whatsoever, instead of going and asking government to pay for her mistakes.

Well its not really your business what the CEO does with his money anyway's, he could have 100's of mistresses all in mansions if he has enough money.

And I would have thought that forex traders would understand more than anyone why capital gains are taxed lower.... maybe its because its not secure income... You could make a million this year, and loss it all and be in debt the next. But yes taxes are way to high, before 1913 the USA didn't even have an income tax, but when it was first implemented the lowest tax rate was 1% and the highest going to 6%.

Um that's why I said "unless your parents give you something". You are a very mistaken man if you think people can own something before they are even born... This goes against all logic... How can someone that doesn't exist, own something? LOL.

Of course the playing field is unfair, so what? Nothing guarantees fairness in this world. If you haven't already learned, many things are unfair, you just have to deal with it... Go ahead and complain all you want, join Occupy Wall St or a Michael Moore fanclub.

You can get into their club, become a better trader LOL, that's how I did it at the age of 17. You guys need to stop complaining and actually learn to trade, no one is gonna let you in the "club" unless you do it yourself...

Well looks like you are quite ok with being taken to the cleaners by the rich who got their ill-gotten gains at the expense of the poor. Capitalism is not perfect especially when the playing field is not level and all the odds are stacked against the poor. For you, it's ok. For the rest of us, it's not ok. Let me ask you something!? How exactly you see it fixed?! Socialism, communism - we have terrible examples how these worked out everywhere. You seek fairness in relativistic quantum Universe - there is now such thing. It is just the nature things are "uneven". And they are uneven and unfair just in your head - for the outside spectator of the University the things are just nature. So? Fix the nature of fix your head?!

Like I have said, their is no guarantee of fairness in this world, you can either learn to accept it and try to accomplish something, or you can complain and stay poor.
How do you contribute to the world that makes you think you deserve to be rich?

And how do you know right from wrong? If you believe in God, then this is the way he made you, learn to accept it and be grateful for what you have. If you're an Atheist then you don't really have something to tell you right from wrong, it's all relative on individuals peoples views. So it doesn't matter what you think anyways...

It's not getting on anyone's "nerves", some of us just try to help poor misguided people like you learn, and focus your anger against the government. See we can go on vacations and stuff, while all you accomplish complaining against the rich is nothing. If I can trade and make money while trying to guide people in the right direction, its all the better for me. I truly wish you can get over your jealousy and envy, not everything in life is about money. Learn to appreciate the things you have... This isn't for my benefit, its for yours...

Like I have said, their is no guarantee of fairness in this world, you can either learn to accept it and try to accomplish something, or you can complain and stay poor.

LOL Complaining does NOT make someone stay poor. I can create wealth and at the same time complain about something that's not right. It only wakes up people to the reality. We can either accept the bullsh*t that the rich feeds us and let them take from us one by one the things that we ever cared about or we can stand up and fight for what is rightfully ours! The choice is yours.

Capitalism is fine; it's cool. Robbing people under the guise of capitalism however, is NOT fine and is NOT cool. If they REALLY want pure capitalism, WHY did they beg like a dog for a bailout when they screw up? Under pure capitalism, things are supposed to right themselves out on its own and one of the most effective if not the most effective way that capitalism right the wrongs is through bankruptcy. When a firm didn't do something right, it goes bankrupt, no bailout, no handout, no nothing. They always wanted government to laissez-faire, how come they didn't let the government laissez-faire to when they go t*** up? They can't have it both ways. When they want to make money, they don't want the government there to set up rules for them to follow and then when they screwed up, they want the government there to save their a**.

And speaking of trading, when we blow up our account(s) in trading (many times due to the brokers' unscrupulous practices), do we go to the government to ask them to bail us out? Why not? Because we are not rich?

Let me ask you something!? How exactly you see it fixed?! Socialism, communism - we have terrible examples how these worked out everywhere. You seek fairness in relativistic quantum Universe - there is now such thing. It is just the nature things are "uneven". And they are uneven and unfair just in your head - for the outside spectator of the University the things are just nature. So? Fix the nature of fix your head?!

No I don't seek fairness. I never said that in any of my posts. Read them over if you need to. I seek what is right. What is supposed to be. A flower is supposed to have five petals. If it has only four, then it's not right and nature eliminates it. Same thing here. You make money through the right way, that's fine. You make money by taking things that don't belong to you, that's not right. That's it. Very simple.

So who is deciding what belongs to whom!? Isn't it a matter of huge opinionated view and personal beliefs for every person? So where is the "right way" described?

NO! It's NATURE who decides, in a whole spectator of universe. If I have $5 and decides to give it to you willing and you take it. That's fine within Nature. But if I have $5 and decides NOT to give it to you but you take it from me by force, that's AGAINST Nature; that's NOT fine; that's WRONG. If I have $5 and decides NOT to give it to you but you take it from me by making the other people make rules to force me to give it to you, that's also against Nature; that's also NOT fine; that's also WRONG.

Not complicated. I can't believe I have to explain something so simple in an adult forum when we have all learned this in daycare. Oh but wait I forgot, the riches never went to daycare. They grow up with governesses and nannies and wet nurses. Ah! That's why. That's why they think taking things from other people is justified. LOL

There are some phenomena I can't understand about the poor. When presented with a big opportunity to make money, they just walk away. The opportunity is in front of them, yet they walk away. It's not they don't see it, but they are so lazy to take it. It's not about doing bad things or against the law. Nothing like that.

The other one is they let others rob them. They don't give a fight. They don't protect their belongings.

These kinds of things just confuse me. That they rather live in their comfort zone. Even it means anybody can rob them. It doesn't bother them a bit.

Poor souls are poor. Can't help them except they help themselves.
