    Fewer and fewer people are feeling middle class these days. The share of Americans who describe themselves as middle class has taken a tumble, while the percentage who identify as lower class has soared over the past six years, according to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center/USA Today. The share of Americans who consider themselves upper class has also shrunk. This downward shift is likely due to falling wages and the weak job market, said Rakesh Kochhar, associate director for research at the Pew Research Center's Hispanic Trends Project. It's a weird issue this middle class stigma with my American cousins. In the USA you're middle class if you don't sleep in your car or a trailer. In the UK middle class tend to send kids to private school, own holiday homes, nearly paid off mortgage, have very little in the way of debt and work in professions such as lawyers, doctors, finance etc

It's been a cute trick this middle class aspersions bollocks successive administrations have played on the Americans...

It is all thanks to the self-centered, greedy, unpatriotic super-rich in USA, and the Republican Senators and Congresspersons they have in their pockets. Big Money controls the outcome of big issues. And, except for a war, there is no bigger issue than converting the middle class into serfs, so they will be just like the poor, no longer with any hope of being anything else, and living in total financial bondage to the super-rich.

The only way out is for the Democrats to regain control of the House of Representatives and proceed to strip away all the tax breaks and loopholes the super-rich have put in place for themselves.

This is delusion. The super rich, those in the top 5 percent Pay 95 percent of the tax burden. You are falling for tired and incorrect arguments that the democrats use to sucker you to vote for them. The economic situation of the middle class has very little to do with the rich paying their share of taxes. Failed leftist policies is the source of burden for the middle class.
I totally disagree. The super-rich have mastered what it takes to pass into law and regulations all that suits the proliferation of their wealth. The Republican lap dogs of the super-rich have made a battle cry about "entitlements" to the poor, casting the poor as lazy and undeserving. The real truth is that whatever a poor person collects in such entitlements yearly, it pales in comparison to what a super-rich person receives in "entitlements" yearly, such things as: obscenely huge pay packages into the hundreds of millions a year, business subsidies, and incredibly looting tax loopholes! We are talking hundreds of millions of dollars going to single individuals at the top.

This is obscene and absurd. And the Republicans battle cry against the slipping middle income class and against the poor, in favor of all that the super-rich would have continue to their own selfish desires, makes Republicans and the Republican "Obstructionists of Progress" Party nothing but filth, trash. They will continue to do all they can do to disenfranchise everyone else that does the real work in this country from receiving anything resembling a fair share of the profits from their labors. If this trend is not stopped and reversed, the USA will take a form our forefathers never intended; a land of the rich, by the rich and for the rich, with everyone else living in absolute total financial bondage to the rich.

Well their are many poor people that are lazy, and many who aren't. NO ONE should receive "entitlements" including the rich. The rich wouldn't be using tax loopholes if the taxes were low in the first place, which they should be for EVERYONE. And whatever Millions they make is not really any of your business, stop envying the rich so much, live your life....

The forefathers wanted capitalism, low regulations, and low taxes, which is why they gave up their British citizenship to go to America... Because of the excessive taxes in Briton. It is like that executive at BP when they had the oil spill in the gulf. The man, after two weeks, said he was taking a vacation because he never worked so hard in his life! The truth is, he never knew what real work is. As an executive, he had to actually DO SOMETHING for two weeks, just like his "little people" as he called them. What a creep!

I can see the problem you have is envy and jealousy. I never said their isn't any poverty, but with a free capitalistic system their would be less poverty, more jobs and opportunity's to go up the job ladder. Theirs always gonna be inequality, you can't expect everyone to be rich, otherwise no one would be rich and we'd all be poor, like in Cuba.

Absolutely agree! It's just so hilarious that when it's the welfare handout for the lazy and undeserving rich, they call it the Bailout with a capital "B". And the Republicans say nothing when those CEO's of the very same companies that single-handedly created the global financial crisis collected their million-dollars fat bonus cheques from the bailout. And yet when the poor really needed assistance in their life, they call it welfare handout. And the Republicans scream blue murder when the poor collected their tiny measly "assistance payments" (which they still have to pay taxes on) and call them "entitled". And those CEO's who sit on their ass doing nothing all day (half of them don't even understand how a trading software works or what a chart shows) is not lazy and undeserving and they are certainly not "entitled"??

Yeah the democrats approved it because they KNOW that this is what the Republicans would do anyway in a heartbeat with all kinds of rhetoric so why not take the credit for something that will happen with eventuality? Republicans live in the pockets of the rich, have always been, and always will. You think those companies would really let the Republicans off the hook if they really chose to stand up and let them fall? They just wanted to give democrats a hard time and then make them look like the bad guys in front of us at the end.
