Fed to get last chance to send message
It’s the last-chance saloon for the Federal Reserve if the central bank wants to send a coordinated message to the markets about tapering. Three Fed speakers are the docket on Monday. After that, Fed officials stop talking, at least on the record, until after the Dec. 17-18 meeting. The Fed is facing a decision on whether to begin to scale back its $85 billion-a-month asset plan. Economists think the recent strong run of economic data, including Friday’s job report, makes it a very close call on whether the Fed starts to taper.
