    Fewer Americans filed applications for unemployment benefits last week as a backlog in California’s reporting cleared. Jobless claims decreased by 10,000 to 340,000 in the week ended Oct. 26 from 350,000 the prior period, the Labor Department reported today in Washington. The median forecast of 49 economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a decrease to 338,000. Following swings caused by a change in computer systems in California, claims are settling into a higher range, indicating the 16-day partial federal shutdown this month prompted some employers to dismiss staff. The Us economy is still shit for employment and will at some point down the line get even shittier but for now it is the least shittiest of the lot(despite employment counting methods,because this is how it has been done previously) , and regardless of how bad it gets , everyone has followed in their footsteps and used similar money printing methods regardless of what they choose to call it, so everyone else will thus only keep the leeway to the downside, we are in a globalized economy, everything works in tandem now, so if the US has a slightly more optimistic outlook ,that in itself will benefit the USD... fundamental fact, this however is a fact that can easily reverse with extreme market events such as natural disasters or bad politics, but for now Dollar is northbound...Fundamental fact dont ask me for charts and technicals cause those may apply at times and not apply at other times,and no one can prove otherwise as I have yet to meet a 100% successful technical guru.

O COME ON!! You don't expect this guy to start discussing the facts now do you? Please! For some reason i can't see his posts. The word ignored keeps coming up. Is today the day the largest economy in the world goes belly up or do i have my dates off? These guys don't get it. Eur new low!

I can't see any facts contained in your poorly constructed sentences.

Try again, perhaps using direct comparisons. Such as U6 unemployment in the USA at 13.8%, the ILO EA measure at 12.2%. Or EU debt at 85% v GDP, USA at 105%.

How's about unfunded liabilities as a useful comparison; $128 trillion v a net worth of $94 trillion and $17 trn of debt. Dyor and tell me what the EUs is?

The EZ govt debt is circa €8.6 trillion, the USA's is over $17 trillion.

Simply stating "its a mess" means nothing unless you can come back with facts.

Im not sure what you're trying to prove here, whether the United States of Europe with a similar sized population to the USA is in worse overall economic shape? If so come back with facts next time. It's actually not about opinions, yes I'm a europhile and 100% behind fiscal and political union.

However, I base my economic position on facts, not biased rhetoric and waffle, stemming from ignorance and deep seated prejudices spoonfed to the gullible by way of a right wing neo con media, instructed to be terrified of an area they believe is a socialist state.

So for the third time of trying you pathetically try to push your views without making any attempts to back them up with evidence.

As for being a committed believer in the Euro project I don't let it cloud my judgment and I'm not wholly satisfied with its current state. However, what's been achieved since the 17 nation currency was launched has been a spectacular success.

Your snide remark regarding my trading is baseless, I enjoy a six figure salary, the bonus will be in the same area, I am where I am partly due to displaying a thorough understanding of how, why and when these markets move. Where are you?

Markets have been sleeping on the zone because of the perceived problems stateside, but IF a big country goes under (Spain?) who will come to the bailout rescue, Germany? Definitely not, Germans love austerity.

The zone, like CNBC Europe Postulated on Draghi's Position as of late is this "We know we have a problem in the zone. We just don't know how to fix it."

There is no point going into the facts (as I said, it takes two to make a market), but my point is, you can't see what your mind won't let you : )
