Retail will do worse if AUD lower as people will be able to afford less to buy as everything is imported.

Weaker dollar helps line the pockets of exporters but doesn't do anything for the people who don't even realize their saving are being stolen from them and their income is decreasing even though they can't see it coming out of their pay checks.

The way to become truly competitive on the world market is through innovation and quality not with a devaluing currency.

Free trade was coined by the British many years ago, there has always been free trade what the British were trying to do with the so call free trade was break down the US style economic system of high import tariffs being adopted by other countries around the world that help protect local economies and provided tax revenue for the Gov. to run off of.

The British wanted to be able to ship their cheap child and slave labor goods world wide without the inconvenience of high tariffs raising the cost of their goods and hurting sales and profits.

Well anyway we see how well a devaluing of the US dollar and nearly no import tariffs are doing for the US economy and manufacturing and jobs and standard of living.

AUD/USD needs to go below 0.70 for sure but when? First AUD/USD has to stage a fake comeback to above 1.0100 then the real fall will follow. SELL on rally, and you will never miss; the sentiment against AUD is huge and it will take RBA to raise interest rate before AUD could see a favorable acceptance in forex market again; excellent Chinese data could do the trick for the couple on hours then the AUD SELL will continue unabated.
