  • FF Forum redesigned

    From forexfactory.com

Over the past few months you may have noticed the Forum undergoing an extensive interface redesign. This week we rolled out the last of the major upgrades. There were hundreds of changes made, and together they result in a Forum that’s simpler, faster to navigate, and more visually focused on content. Upgrades like the new thread pagination represent a breakthrough in navigation speed, and improvements like the new file uploading sequence, which turned a clunky 7-click process into a snappy 3-click process, make interfacing with the site much easier. Another notable upgrade was the implementation of a new post ... (full story)

"simpler, faster to navigate"
yet, it still lacks the basic functionalities of Bboards I normaly use (on every forum where available) for fast forum reading. How can I click on latest posts/recently active..whatever, and jump to my first unread post from there on FF? It used to be working here in the distant past.

imo many changes are unnecessary, it looks just like someone needs to show some activity and constantly change something..

+how can i easy way and quickly search member list for recently joined members from any particular country? it was possible in the past as well. I don't see much use in ordering by vouchers or number of posts..

I have to say anything that means simpler chart/image uploading is a definite win. This was a pain in the rear previously as I never knew how to get this to work without 'sharing' an image in Google+ before adding a link... (ok, maybe it was just me, lol)

Is the FF forum basically a modified (alot) version of mediawiki? I'm curious to know what the original back end is... maybe it's no longer recognisable of course

Anyway it looks 'cleaner' and not so much legacy internet feeling so kudos for all the hard work.

IMHO trading forums are dead as a concept. It's all been done, it's all been said, there's nothing new. They work for site owners on the basis that if you were first to market you'll be indexed well and the natural search results require nil SEO. They're an incredible library of info for new traders but the new recruits are tapering off to zero quickly.

hi.. amazing work i must say.. thanks..

just one little thing.. on tablet devices and on chrome, the smiles dialog conflicts with samsung keyboard and eventually they both hide without giving the chance to pick the smiley you intend to use..

tab2 with icecream sandwich on board..

thanks again for the great efforts

Yes, I have noticed bugs that annoy me.

When I write the post, I sometimes do double spacing between the lines. When I post it, I see just single spacing between the lines. I must click on edit and post it again, then I see the spacings as I wanted.

Also, when quoting somebody's post, the sentences merge together, there is no space between the period and the next sentence.

Can you fix those issues?

Which has just happened on my post, above.
I did double line spacing, but I see only single line spacing.

oh. I am always forgetting that there are many people who came to trading recently and want/need to read and learn from other's experience

You are right, after some years of reading forums, there is not much of new stuff on boards to read anymore. Thats probably what is influencing my judgement here, because if I am to read something here, i dont want to go through every section and look for something interesting-I usually do that from recently active threads, click on very few threads, have a look if there is something interesting for me, and leave.

The times when I read every other thread and followed it every day are long gone..
So I understand FF, i'm not the one who are they targeting with their site changes.

but Im still visiting FF often because they have very nice calendar and time to time there is something interesting in the news section

I think the forum threads new design makes each posts harder to seperate. There seems to be too little space between the posts and the color design makes it a bit harder too. It lacks smoothness.

I see there has been some updates on the posting function too - love the screenshot upload function!

Agree with Spreadbetter and Orion602.

The problem for noobs is that finding the good info is like a needle in a dung heap.

The forum/portal operators' creed:
Sell ads again and again and again. Provide ample room for ads and banners.
If the same old shit keeps the visit rate high and the ad revenue up, onward and upward.

Making a profit is good. Providing info and services that folks need is good. The problem is that noobs are lost in the wilderness and can't tell important and useful info from the snake oil and crap that accounts for the majority of forum posts.
Most forum denizens are the lost following the more lost.

Here is an editorial my brother and I posted on our last forum post ever. Well, second to never as of now.

"We think there are some talented and smart people on forums but the vast majority are pitiful and desperate.

We don't pity them because they are content to jump from quagmire to quagmire (thread to thread) in the hope someone will tell them what to do.

We think the OP and the subscribers fulfill their own needs by perpetuating this endless cycle.

Virtually every thread on every forum devolves into the same crazy mess.

All of this amuses us but it is annoying and disappointing that people buy the dream but are unwilling to pay the dues to make it real.

There are some that are really smart enough although trading is not that hard if one can simply accept and work around the realities.

Others don't have the temperament. Identical to our IQ opinion, temperament, whether learned or innate, is also not insurmountable.
I should practice what I preach on this one.

We truly hate to see lambs led to slaughter who usually lose a lot or everything. But it is a trader's job to take it from them in the sense that our arena is a zero sum game.

That's why I only post on this news section; the thought of wading through thousands of threads leaves me cold, I'd rather just pop into a trading pub for a chat on news. When you consider all that effort, all those contributions, all that reading taking up thousands of hours and the failure rate is off the scale at close to 99%.

I often wonder if there's any other forums, aimed at posters with the specific purpose of making them money, that have failed so spectacularly. The irony is that folk would have been better visiting the UK moneysavingexpert site rather than Forex Factory; one site they'd have saved money on their bills the trading site they've lost money but keep on hoping that the Holy Grail is viewable through all the fog and the noise.

Please fix layout style for Windows8 IE10. I've tried compatibility view and it's still messed up. Everything is on the left side.
