    APRIL KEY POINTS TREND ESTIMATES (MONTHLY CHANGE) Employment increased to 11,646,000. Unemployment increased to 682,900. Unemployment rate remained steady at 5.5%. Participation rate at 65.3%. Aggregate monthly hours worked increased to 1,638.8 million hours. SEASONALLY ADJUSTED ESTIMATES (MONTHLY CHANGE) Employment increased 50,100 (0.4%) to 11,663,200. Full-time employment increased 34,500 to 8,159,700 and part-time employment increased 15,600 to 3,503,500. Unemployment decreased 2,700 (0.4%) to 685,300. Something wrong with these stats. No way this many FT jobs created. When the market realises this it will correct somewhat but all the way back. Best to stay out at present until the dust settles.

All employment data from around the world is taken from a very small sample size.

I've yet to read anyone who trusts/believes any govt unemployment stats, even Eurostat's on for example Greece and Spain. The USA despite pushing the headline rate of 7.5% does actually print the real (U6) number which is currently at 13.9%.

considering that the Aus FED Govt banned the DSS from compiling & releasing unemployment figures in 1986 ......

All data releases come from bureau of Stats, & they don't get the figures from DSS......
