  • North Korea readies rockets after U.S. show of force

    From reuters.com

North Korea put its missile units on standby on Friday to attack U.S. military bases in South Korea and the Pacific, after the United States flew two nuclear-capable stealth bombers over the Korean peninsula in a rare show of force. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed off on the order at a midnight meeting of top generals and "judged the time has come to settle accounts with the U.S. imperialists in view of the prevailing situation", the official KCNA news agency said. KCNA said North Korea and the United States could only settle their differences by "physical means". The North has an arsenal of Soviet-era ... (full story)

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un should spend time to monitor his weight than making boom-boom noises. His days are numbered if he can't lose that excess pounds...

sweeetfriend,
It will help CHF, USD, and EUR (possibly JPY) against other majors but it will kill S. Korea economy and its currency and in the end North Korea leaders will emerge from their holes with no army to command...

I find it strange that we're only hearing what North Korea are apparently saying through western news media outlets, which is basically pure propaganda for the western world, how do we know they're really saying and threatening anything? seriously, before you brush it off, how do you know for sure they are actually saying and are actually threatening anything whatsoever and it isn't just more progaganda to get the people to have a biased opinion on an upcoming campaign? They lied to get to war with Iraq, Libya was a farce also.

Take it for what you will, but for godsake, open your eyes. That is all.

GDR3k,

Which planet do you come from? What can western world get by going into war with North Korea? The only way western world or US/S.Korea will deal with N. Korea is to stop N.Korea when it starts a war. The most important advice I got from my grand father is "don't fight with somebody who has nothing to lose", similarly "one should not have an affair with a lady who has nothing to lose".

North Korea is a non-issue. They have no mentionable natural resources that are vital to the US economy. If they did, they would've already been invaded.

It is April and the winter has been harsh on North Korean food stores. Something has to be done to keep the people's mind off their hunger.

Eventually, North Korea will quiet down and toe the line once the US and China sealed a secret aid deal with Kim.

In the short term, USD and JPY should do well while risk currencies like AUD may take a hit. Just my two cents.

Nice try but no, you're wrong, I've enjoyed many healthy debates on this section. But what I don't do is silently standby and suffer fools, unfortunately they're in plentiful supply on the news threads. Take as an example the threads regarding North Korea that seem to acting as a retarded IQ magnet. If I decide to correct what I believe to be stupidity then that's my business. I realise that the majority of the time I'm swimming versus a tide of stupidity but there's one or two posters on here whose contributions I value.

I understand, these sections contain some comments that rival youtube comments for stupidity. However isnt it easier to simply ignore the idiots rather than engage them? If they had nothing to add to the discussion anyway why would replying to their comments add anything constructive?

By what other means would he consider?

End of the day, I doubt this is anything more than another side show.

A precedent has been set once, but they are in no position for a nuclear conflict. No one is right now.

Can his rockets really reach the US mainland?
More chance of that than firing them I'd say.

Ill-b-back,

Many competing forces usually under-estimate the determination of Uncle Sam when it comes to national security treat; what this fat boy needs is a lollipop to close his mouth. If the bombs start flying he will wet his pants.

Anyway, I blame international community for this kind of North Korean behavior especially South Korea, Japan, USA and China, whenever North Korea says she will destroy South Korea then a ship load of food start to arrive at the ports of North Korea from South Korea, Japan, USA and China. Why should you always feed a mouth that threatens to bite you?

To me, it seems sensible that red china should/must absorb north korea and leave mr. kim in charge of a government that does not control n korean military. Help the people with food, tech, etc. so eventually an economy that may support the koreans could be established. I believe the military leaders would welcome a cooler hand on the controls and would cooperate in every way. It seems the only good solution to me.
