funny how when mario expresses an interest in a weaker euro we get all sorts of bad news.

when hes looking for a stronger euro, last year, we get all sorts of good news.

hmmm......

The long term refinancing operation (LTRO) is a cheap loan scheme for European banks.. and the news is well, not so good, almost half of the expected repayment, so they are short on moneyloans ...

9 banks repaid eur 1.7 bln in 5th repayment of first 3 year ltro
confusion on the wires as this was announced incorrectly
eur/usd dips sharply to strong support around 1.3165 from 1.3205
add:
the market had called this incorrectly too and were looking for a stronger number
eur/usd dips again but buyers noted

Its because the people behind the media are the same as the government or Central Banks or ...!!!

They follow the same policy from different aspects.

The ECB flooded financial markets with more than 1 trillion euros in three-year loans a year ago after banks stopped lending to each other because of Europe’s debt crisis. Banks have the option of repaying the loans, which were offered at the average of the ECB’s benchmark rate over their duration, after 12 months.

“The ECB will welcome the repayment as long as banks make it for the right reasons,” said Nick Matthews, senior economist at Nomura International Plc in London. “If banks are comfortable that they don’t need the money anymore or can get funding in the market, it’s alright. The last thing you want though is to see banks rushing to repay, only to get into trouble because they don’t have their funding in place.”

This means that ECB retire funds from the market ... then the EUR will become stronger?!?

they are paying back the loans early. that cant be bad. they didn't pay back as much as expected, so the reaction. are they using the money they borrowed to pay it back early? It would not surprise me.
