Market makers take the other side of Your trade. When You buy, they sell. When they have many contracts short, they drag the market down to book a profit. It's just business.

Draghi says "...oooh it is terrible..." and market dives.
Then Draghi says "..but we thought it would be much worse..." then market recovers - or something like that.

...yeah, was that the "worst of the storm clouds have passed" speech on 10th January? So I think this time he remembered to play things down a little because some FinMins are muttering about the Euro being overvalued.

DAX is up, CAC was up - then down, then up again, IBEX is up, all on ECB timing. DOW and S&P have opened down so maybe we see USD weakness soon...

UK GDP estimate coming now, maybe another shock happening....

The fall to 1,3400 was expected and healthy. And it does not mean bullish trend is in jeopardy. However, sustained fall below 1,3400 would mean something is changed in the EUR outlook.

Look at the daily chart. That correction was essential for further upside move...Just keep in mind that Fed continues printing while EURO is drying up in the market through LTRO repayments...

Guys , in The next following months EUR will drop , as I mention in the last previus months that high rate EUR will hurt for EU recovery and Now Draghi do it for this similar with weakness Yen.

"Bias is negative following a bearish press conference from Mario Draghi. The president expects the inflation to dip below the 2% in the medium term, keeping expectations around that level as well. He informed that weakness in the euro area would persist in the first part of the current year, allowing a recovery later. In the same tone, he warned that a high exchange rate would pose risks to inflation.

I hope this info become consideration. I prefer to Short EUR for following Week .

Clipped from a Reuters report...
"A batch of indicators cited by Draghi at his January 10 news conference show the economic distortions of the euro zone debt crisis are starting to correct themselves, with the data flow positive over the last month.
One of the indicators shows the ECB's balance sheet shrinking after banks jumped at the chance late last month to repay early 137 billion euros in long-term loans they took from the central bank.... a by-product of that could be to drive the euro yet higher."

Just like what happened last week when everybody was shorting the highs, now everybody is buying the lows - the banksters and I thank all the dumb money for your kind donations to our accounts

As long as traders are buying the lows - the smart money runs stops and we keep going lower and lower until the buyers give up - then and only then will it go back up

Again just a reverse of trading action last week

After a low in mid-November last year, the EU trend has been up. A 'correction' refers to a move which is in the opposite direction to the prevailing trend, so this correction is down. If it goes a long way it could go to 3250. However some will trade the 62% fibo bounce, going long from around 1.3430 presumably with stop around 3350 or below 3250. However 1.3430 has already failed so maybe not this time.

I am still in my Yen trades...

strong forces such as central banks use opportunities to enter trades during volatile periods if of press conferences. I believe even strong companies are entering trades to get large gains against weaker players.

I believe they are ultimate traders as for me greatest trader has a mentality as such: "today EUR is too expensive I will buy it when the price is lower"

My views ain't valuable, just for sharing. Cash in 140pips and lost 48pips with 2 longs at .3438 and .3418 - damn!!!

Was pinning on some solid support at .3439 major pivot line and all it did was gave way. My fking dream was to use that line to enter long to complete ABCD up to .3780, what a fking dream! See I get it wrong sometime lol.

IF parasite can't clear .3439 soon, then I'll start reshorting down. In the meantime had relong at .3372 (not included in the current 98pips I cash today) and hoping for a pop back up. May close it soon as it is big lots.

But saying that I was spot on .3370 vs 1500 SP500, only its a week later!!!!

So key line to watch .3439 line again, otherwise what BenMario say about .3337 may come into play

I have got no idea what Draghi said (no speaka da language), but the bears' writing was already on the wall yesteday a couple hours before Wall St. opened. Bulls have run too far, bears are in control now. If anyone caught the dead cat bounce off support about an hour back (I did) then well done, but the bears will rule for a while now, so don't get sucked into buying the dips. Sell the rallies.

You know folks come up with all sorts - in the main they need a reason to take risk and they like it more if that reason comes across as "logical" and "sensible" - so they lean on voodoo and stupid talk like BIS this or that. That is fine. But a simple mean reversion model of the market told you where and when to enter this trade almost five days ago - and where to exit (not saying it is simple - took at least two years of sweat and swot to work it out and sometimes still get it wrong mainly because I get swayed now and again by trader talk which almost always is so wrong I kick myself - but I am human).

But if you understand mean reversion - it is the sum of all trader sentiment (all reason, logic, fears, mistakes, nonsense and sense, etc) that makes up a market and which resolves into a system of pivots which we can then read. Now if we all did that (or a whole lot of us) - not only would we be profitable on average and less stressed and confused by the market - we would also be there for each other to support and encourage firm dispositions against the after market including the likes of some dudes here out to make you feel there is something more than a market to trading.

When price is too high it falls and when it is too low it rises - mean reversion merely tells when and in which dimension or time frame the market is thinking such thoughts (regardless of specifics). With some advanced study of chaos math and fractal geometry one learns to integrate these impulses and time trades so that increasingly one sees the market for what it is - a market and not some economic mumbo jumbo crap fundamentalist jungle.

This is one of my last posts here - getting to busy to keep up saying the same thing time after time. Best of the trades to all.

BTW: Posting this because I did mention elsewhere (yesterday or the day before or something) what was going to be - not by magic by MR. Was I dead sure? Well is anyone? But how many times do you have to get it right to have a point? And with more guys on board confidence spreads. BTW no one need lose cause someone else won - it is a market not a casino.

He does not need one - so long as he believes and acts on it and or facilitate others to believe and act on such thinking it exists and has impact on the market - which is why your vaunted fundamentalist notions of the market - means nothing more than "the panacea for those predisposed to serial bankruptcy" (and of course those who love stuff like reading the entrails of dead animals or consulting witch doctors to tell the future).

That freakish 1hr candle on 3pm GMT was a last engulfing pattern if there ever was one.

I remember that because got caught by it, looking back at it, it was the last ditch effort for the longs to get the best exit. It's been trickling down since then and today big bearish candle that signals possible reversal.

Your mean reversion system, is that based on bollinger bands? I'd very much appreciate it if you can explain it in more detail for us.

Hi mean reversion is on the surface not mathematical as such. Think of double bollinger bands for which you must select a mean to define the 2 negative and positive deviation limits to implement the setup. Pretty simple huh? The theory says price observations exceeding 2 standard deviations (+ve) can be thought of as too expensive and must revert toward the mean and ditto for the same situation where price deviates to the negative extreme.

However, simply implementing bollinger bands and deploying it on that basis I found (while it works well) is confusing since in fact you do not get the kind of deterministic containment one expects and would love for easy trading. That is where studying chaos mathematics (i.e. why a system is said to be chaotic and what that means for dynamic systems - not actual sums, equations and solutions, etc) and fractal geometry (what fractals are and what they mean for markets and the implications for time dimensions or time frames).

These along with the algebra of polynomials and their graphs (in my case since I use Non Linear regression rather than bollinger bands) help pierce the veil - so to speak and enable the kind of understanding of price dynamic that will make the application of non linear systems (chaos) logical in resolving some of the issues we face as traders. It is not about a system - but a way of reading the market which is incredibly reliable but which appears largely ignored by most.

So it is for you to read about these topics and try on your own to work it out and make sense of the market and once that is the case I will not sound so confounding. It requires time and effort I have found and there are no simple ABCD type logic along with rules (at least not that I know or have heard). Of course things like fractal primitives and the whole area of modern fractal wave theory makes nonsense of all the wave counting jazz which is pretty heavy the EW crowd but I for instance mastered it more to show me what a waste of time (hit/miss) EW is and that by employing the more readily applicable idea of the fractal wave matrix made up of 4 and only 4 fractal primitives the entire fractal structure of price can be comprehended and modeled (so spent no time trying for instance to make a system of that as I am sure some folk would try to do in the future).

The long and short of it is that you got to find this stuff out yourself and it helps you implement MR (or what we can just see as bollinger band setups) in a way that provides the kind of precision I come up with from time to time in predicting price movements. Cheers

Hi mean reversal is on the surface not mathematical as such.

After an exchange we had a while back I realised that this was what you meant, for a while I had double BBs on my charts - and then simply used a 50-average and stretched out the SD slightly. It works quite well but I am having to learn to fly again.

Most people cannot comprehend your techniques because they do not have the foundation in maths. Even though I have figured you out now, and even though I have a scientific degree with heavy maths emphasis, it is still over the parapet for me. So I have bounced it at my maths lecturer who teaches at a university - alas he is too focused on beer and women....

Love those too - thing is you need the math to go beyond the confusion and frustration one gets when trying to apply volatility bands. You must answer the questions why and when does price break "bounds" in this or that time frame, etc. That means understanding the nature of chaos and also issues about instantaneous momentum, etc. For instance take Gold today for all the gyrations we saw it went nowhere really - looks like the breakout is tomorrow maybe and I suspect North rather than South (which is where I am inclined to think it is headed without assistance) - been playing games now (Gold i.e.) like forever - imagine what losses could mount without understanding that it is in dynamic equilibrium or range.

But there is no book on it and I am not an academic - the math is not fixed and you must think more in terms of synthesis bringing in physics sometimes (waves and their properties - think how orders are made and reach the market. Waves and waves of buy/sell impulses) - but I lost big time first time out and lots of money too duped by the sort of crap spreadbutter likes to spread ("we" and that kind of jazz like he knows something I have not tried) - good luck to him - bet he is angling to get guys to pay tuition for more of the nonsense.

I have a contact whose tried everything over his 30+ years in 'da markets', now only trades by probability. He's right 50% of the time, only 50% of his trades are winners. tell ya what, you wouldn't mind being a pound behind him. He reckons a coin toss is as good as any method to enter if the MM is sound. Wouldn't argue with him, seen his statements and know his background.

That is fine. But a simple mean reversion model of the market told you where and when to enter this trade almost five days ago - and where to exit (not saying it is simple - took at least two years of sweat and swot to work it out and sometimes still get it wrong mainly because I get swayed now and again by trader talk...

you may get swayed with trader talk but as far as i am concerned ..you might not like it but i am always gambling on you ..i make a few people gamble on you too...and its not gambling if you are winning ....i have saved a few accounts on your calls of people who have been trading for years.....now i wont even care if u make a call and it goes wrong because i have made so much because of you and i dont get distracted with trader talk either .....i have been following you since i was on demo 8 months back ..just how you are good at analyzing trends..i am good at analyzing people and i knew back then what you are capable of and it wasnt that difficult..it was just simple math.....a month or so back i had told a friend of mine that loaded is bound to disappear for good........ i am sure a lot of noobs here will be disappointed if u leave...so it is not about how you have to repeat yourself again and again..you dont need to !!..but stick around ..it will not be fair to people who have been following you..
plus i don't think applying chaos math and fractal geometry would be as easy as you make it sound...but atleast i know which areas to look for and why ....without you i would have been completely directionless in this business..thanks for all your help and please you can pop up here sometimes when you are not busy..............and yeah ..great call yesterday once again!

Loadedgun,

It is without a doubt that jealousy is a part of life that most people have to deal with at some point in their lives for different reasons. The killer is when those people who are affected by the negative actions of other people who are jealous of them simply give up on the actual deeds or qualities that started the jealousy in the first place. It is a loss they will suffer as well as those who are admirers of their deeds or qualities.

You, sir, seem to have reached the level of giving up on something a lot of traders and members in this forum have been following and enjoying and indeed benefiting from, and that is a shame. I do understand that it gets tiring to battle with fools or those who don't follow rules. I do also understand the agony of repeating oneself for the sake of others' understanding, but that is what teachers do and where would any of us be without the commitments of our teachers?

It is, in most cases, the aim of others to distract people from following someone because of jealousy. It can be in the form of putting them down, discouraging them, laughing at them, or even claiming they know better when in fact they can't hold their water. They are in essence "noise" just like you keep comparing "news" when it comes to trading.

Why would you want to take that kind of noise into account when you don't in trading. Just let them be and know within yourself they won't add or take away from the equation. They are just a constant that has to be parked aside when doing the calculation but always born in mind.

I am a scientist but a newbie at trading (only about two years) and also new to this wonderful forum, but I have seen, read and followed some of your posts to the point where I know what you're talking about and firmly believe that you believe in what you're saying from hard experiences. It is a pleasure to read the meat of what you say, but a bother when it comes to bickering with certain individuals who obviously have purposes other than trading in mind.

I will add my voice to Hiflyer and doctortyby in asking you NOT to give up on this forum because of the noise. What you did in pointing out your experiences was a joy to follow, but what you're planning to do in leaving this forum is a punishment for the many that want you to stay but a victory for the very few that don't.

I hope that you have reached a stretched position on the bands of reasons and that you'll use mean reversion to get back right in the middle of those who respect and admire what you say. Also, never fear for we will back you up, as the needs of the many (we) will always outweigh the needs of the few (the jealous ones).

Thanks for the kind words from many friends out here - diminishing marginal utility I thought would have set in by now from my rather fixed theme repeated over and over again. But clearly the conversations have had some use (and I am surprised to be frank - widely noted). Sure - will keep coming around to share thoughts from time to time seeing it is not useless - but the main thing is that this study of mine has been so involved and been taking a lot of my time as I try desperately to round up and and have a life beyond trading. So fine - will share what I can from time to time (and by grace should be real good in the times ahead as I get my phasing and especially D1 phases tighter and tighter) then I am getting models for Gold and other pairs worked to be as reliable as EU (as well). Not too long now. Thanks and cheers everyone - hope in the end some real good comes of all of this and spreads.

Some of the concepts only appear complex - casual reading even knowing what they mean (like chaos math, where it came from, why it is so important to stuff like the weather and what it means in terms of explaining the market can help clarify points of interest when we finally get to trying to back up some of our positions in the future). Such cursory knowledge of fractals too would be great for those interested (not the Bill Williams tool - I think he was overwhelmed in his time given there might not have been access to the kind of computers we have now and moreover a lot of stuff had not been discovered and understood about chaos and fractals I think when he was doing his stuff coming up with all those complex indicators that frankly for me are of very limited relevance now - though spent some time on him and other (all the) past masters - since every single one of them guess what? Well worked on chaos math and fractal geometry. Every single one of them - which tells us one thing - it cannot be a waste of time since they have had so much to tell and teach us novice traders - in any case the point is it is worth the time finding out what these things mean and why everything in trading seems to work around them - from Dow to harmonics to EW to whatever you care to mention. Best of the trades.

His analysis is not bad. But the attacks to traders using fundamental analysis is ridiculous.

Many traders trade what they know best. I don't use RSI and MACD, though they are well known to provide some signals.

He and Jaygee may represent two poles of trading styles.

Maybe I am a few who likes Jaygee analysis, though he was not one of the best. I miss his live trades.

Seen couple of questions when is the perfect time for entry/exit. Tbh, theres none but multiple tools available for your convenience to choose from expert and complicated tools to the simplest one comes default with MT4 platform (cycle lines) which pretty much tells you when a trend is due complete and what you need to do next.

No you haven't, what you did see is questions as to why a bsd, trading up to 100 lots on commodities, would need affiliate commission, would wait up to five minutes for a fill, accept very poor spreads and use a bucket shop like InstaForex who are not set up for commodity trading. Even more curious is why someone successfully trading up to that size account, on a 2% per trade basis, isn't at least at a prop house with a decent rep or isn't at a boutique hedge fund...

IF parasite can't clear .3439 soon, then I'll start reshorting down. In the meantime had relong at .3372 (not included in the current 98pips I cash today) and hoping for a pop back up. May close it soon as it is big lots.

Zain - just done from one of the longest trend I've done for ages, 15hrs closed at .3412 pathetic 40pips x big lots (it looks small for other but big to me big), done for Friday.

For me take first offer TP and run, no point hanging there for too long.

Respect to all senior traders,

I joined forexfactory today, but I have been following this forum from last 1 and a half year. I usually used to read the comments and commentaries posted by senior and experience traders and of course Forex Factory.

I have been trading from almost a year now and finally I could able to understand what is the way to get to understand the Forex world. I have been following alot of experience people and I see their opinions and in depth analysis is really worth reading and helpful. I hope to get their some day if I could be of any help to anybody...

At the moment I have an issue and due to my lack of expertise I created a little problem for my account. I need an expert advice from anyone of you if possible.

I am long on euro 2 lots 1. at 1.34696 2. 1.34437..... according to my little knowledge I thought 1.3430x will be a big support and 1.3404 will be even bigger but the way price moved yesterday was little over i could afford. well i have a reasonable backup but any suggestions on how to get out of these trades or should i let them float but to what extent ? and how soon a reversal will be so that i can take an exit ? any helpful suggestion any one ?

I'm not senior nor experienced enough but can share with you. On my chart, there was a strong pivot support at .3439 and I went long at .3438 yesterda only to have .3420 wept out too, lost 48pips from the 140pips I shorted earlier yesterday, I set tight SL for the 2 longs I lost 48pips too. Though I relong at .3372 with 20x which I closed earlier this morning. The H4 support line looks intact so far at .3380 but it's too close for comfort.

.3439 to me is a critical line to watch for if parasite can't climb above this line, then becareful since it's Friday. I'm saying this becos some asshole fin minister from Japan just farted that Yen has weaken overly. So whether the market sentiment by the big players take a swap on longs down, who knows.

So watch for this line and remember to set SL. Better to lose some than to lose ALL.
