  • New FF product: Brokers

    From forexfactory.com

We're pleased to announce the beta-release of Brokers, a highly advanced guide to regulated forex brokers. This new product is a breakthrough in the way traders research brokers, finally combining up-to-date information, extensive detail, real-time spreads, and a versatile interface that makes it easy to sort through it all! While all information on the broker guide is kept fresh, the spreads are real-time! All spreads are pulled from each broker's standard live account (no demos) with mere millisecond of lag (click the icon to refresh). With the built-in sorting feature, you can even sort the brokers by the pair ... (full story)

I'm surprised you're not showing commission on this table. I don't know about the other brokers, but MBT charges a commission per trade (but also a credit for filled limit orders). While this may make a lot of newbies head for the hills, they're actually still cheaper than most brokers. I love them!

a huge step in the right direction. I do hope you are not limiting yourself to USA-only brokers.

Ignored
In the US? Very little. The question is, regulated for what purpose and to whose ultimate benefit. Rather than truly regulate Retail FX Brokers in the US by dealing with platform, data feed, pricing and trade execution gimmicks of bucket shops for the benefit of the Trader, they introduce regulations that hurt or hinder Traders such as FIFO, No Hedging, Excessive Margin Requirements and restricting competition by forcing a US intermediary only market.

What the regulators and the industry should be doing is providing proper education for Traders. Instead, in the US they allow for an environment of Retail Bucket Shop horrors which end up in a death spiral like the FXCMs of the world and Traders left in the lurch wondering what just happened.

At the end of the day, you are probably much better off taking the time to pick up the phone and doing your own homework by investigating Intermediaries directly, getting concrete answers to concrete questions and developing a feeling for whether or not you can trust that particular broker to properly handle your capital.

Of course, the most important component to all of this is making absolutely sure that you develop the skill, knowledge and expertise required to be involved in a business that hinges upon Risk Taking. If you don't develop the awareness for the need to model the risk factors and the tools for mitigating that risk, then long term positive results in the business of trading will suffer.

This business if predicated on what you know and how well you execute (consistently) on what you know. The rest is making sure you are on a sound enough trading platform that you don't have to constantly fight against just to be able to execute your trades - that is where your homework on finding a descent "Retail" broker pays off.

Cheers!
