Bank holiday washout as thunderstorms set to hit Britain
Following the wettest April on record, the Met Office warned that a “large amount of rain” would sweep the country, bringing renewed risk of flooding. Last night the Environment Agency (EA) had three flood warnings and a further 20 alerts in place, mostly in East Anglia and throughout London and the South-East. Bringing a bleak end to the three day break for millions of holidaymakers, forecasters also warned of sub temperatures overnight in some parts as mercury struggles to remain above freezing.
