Spain Bottoming Out, or More to Come?
Thursday's impressive Spanish bond auction has many wondering whether the worst might be over for a country that has been harshly dealt with by the euro crisis. But a look at some of a few charts on Spain's economic numbers do not paint a pretty picture and--unlike, say, the moderately improving data in the U.S.--there is no sign of them tapering off into the makings of a bottom. Spain's unemployment rate, which hit 22.9% in December to become the highest in the euro zone, has consistently increased since mid-2007.
