Why, it was ancient Hellenic historians who drew up the original list, squeezing two of their own (Zeus's statue at Olympia and the Colossus of Rhodes) into a top seven. Amazingly, there wasn't even a row about Greek over-representation. Or Homer's bias, as it was known in those days. It's a rich tradition, then. But still you have to ask: has Greece surpassed itself lately?
