The currency fell to a 34-year low against the dollar Friday after the Bank of Japan indicated financial conditions will remain easy, with losses accelerating in late trading in New York. There is a lot more going on with JPY than is expressed in the endless articles about the BOJ, intervention, etc. Retail understands none of it. There is a high inverse correlation between JPY and the VIX, for example. Anyone wonder why this is? What is the carry trade actually funding, anyone? Why did Yellen choose to comment now about intervention as “only extremely rare, extraordinary circumstances” and not in 2022? These are just some of the forces behind the recent moves and interest rate differentials is the least interesting aspect of it all.
Pullback this week for sure.

How far is anyone’s guess. I would suggest a good retest of the 155 area before any further push higher.

Very much doubt that "officials" will act. More like market itself will do the job and do it thoroughly. Call it instinct (and timing).
