Japanese Yen Forecast: Where's the Line in the Sand for USD/JPY?
USD/JPY has broken out to a fresh 34-year high and, so far, there’s been no sign of intervention from the Bank of Japan. As we move into next week, that will likely remain as the big question. And we may be at the stage where threats from the Finance Ministry aren’t enough to back bulls off the bid in USD/JPY. But, even if the BoJ does intervene, the question remains as to whether that can reverse the move. There was a similar episode back in 2022 when USD/JPY was climbing as driven by the carry trade. Once price hit the 145.00 level there were grumblings of intervention and that price ended up stalling the move ... (full story)

post: BREAKING: Iran launches attack against Israel using dozens of drones, four U.S. and Israeli officials told meIsrael says Iran launched a number of drones toward it that will take hours to arrive The Israeli military says Iran has launched a number of drones toward Israel. The army’s spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said it would take several hours for the aircraft to arrive. He said Israel was prepared. He spoke Saturday evening. Israel has been on heightened alert since an airstrike last week killed two Iranian generals in Syria. Iran accused Israel of being behind the attack and vowed revenge. Israel has not commented on that attack. A U.S. official briefed on the attack said Iran had launched “dozens” of drones. The official could not publicly discuss details of the attack and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. Earlier Saturday, the Israeli military said it was canceling school and limiting public gatherings to no more than 1,000 people as a safety precaution. Briefing reporters, Hagari said Israel is “prepared and ready” with defensive and offensive actions. He also said there was “tight” cooperation with the U.S. and other partners in the region. The head of the U.S. Central Command, Gen. Erik Kurilla, has been in Israel in recent days to coordinate with Israel about the Iranian threats. Israel has a number of layers of air defense capable of intercepting everything from long-range missiles to UAV’s and short-range rockets. Hagari sa

Earlier today, Iran—and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq—launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms. At my direction, to support the defense of Israel, the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week. Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles. I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel. I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks – sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel. Tomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people. post: BIDEN TO CONVENE G7 LEADERS FOR UNITED DIPLOMATIC RESPONSE TO IRAN'S ATTACK post: "I JUST SPOKE WITH PRIME MINISTER NETANYAHU TO REAFFIRM AMERICA’S IRONCLAD COMMITMENT TO THE SECURITY OF ISRAEL:"
