  • Rishi Sunak: The time has come to cut tax

    From bbc.co.uk

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said the government is now able to cut taxes, after the pace of price rises eased. Mr Sunak said his target of halving inflation had been met so taxes would be reduced in "a responsible way". He refused to comment on "speculation" about changes to individual taxes and said there would be more details in Wednesday's Autumn Statement. But the PM said the government could now move to "the next phase" of its plan to grow the economy. Last week the government said it had met its pledge to halve inflation - the rate prices are rising - after the figure fell sharply to 4.6% in October. ... (full story)

General election is coming - is all I can say! Major tried that before the collapsed of the tory government, we are just witnessing history re-enacting itself.

Is the incoming Labour govt any good - I seriously doubt so.

A broken economy can be fixed over time, a broken country that has no moral is beyond repair. Just look at the jokers and clowns we have had....

Ken Clarke was chancellor then. He got the economy on a good footing so much so that Brown continued his policies for a while and managed to get budget surpluses.
The government at the time was portrayed as useless and full of sleaze but was able to put the economy in good shape for Brown to take over.
They actually went for a good economy instead of massive give aways to try and cling onto power which was better for the country and gave Labour a good head start.
Ken Clarke is a good honest politician who does not get the credit he deserves partly because he is pro Europe so is not overly liked by a lot of Conservatives.
Really, like 97, it is Labours time to have a go even though I say that apprehensively as I was at BAe in the 80s and saw what a lot of meanspirited lousy work shy backstabbing people there are that vote for them, which a lot of the decent Labour voters don't realise.
Rachel Reeves is supposed to be a good choice for chancellor and Ken Clarke said this so I am willing to take his opinion.
The greatest enemy of a good plan is the dream of a perfect plan.

I agree Ken was and is still a good bloke, so far. But in the time leading up to 97, tory was just a sleazy party - the hamiltons just one of them. As for the current tory - I have ran out of fingers and toes to count the sleazy and corrupted lot.

Rachel might be a good cx but the shadow foreign secretary is likely to be one of the first few who will fall on their own sword. In fact, he was quoting live on tv in recent years that there was no police around where he was yet ironically, there was a hi-vis police standing around 200m away from him.

O well.

Lol Good old David Lammy. That is the trouble with Labour. For every Reeves ( Assume she is sensible just taking what others say at face value) there is a Lammy, Rayner, Thornberry, Barry { I didn't take £425000 From a chinese spy} Gardiner, Burgon, Diane (beautiful mind) Abbot, standing right behind them All led by Sir Kneel Starmer.
I could say God help us but there is no such thing so I will pray to Saint Diane for a prosperous end to the 2020s.

O don't start with Thornberry......

At least right now, the Labour still has a slightly higher moral ground over the corrupted tory. Though it WILL be a downhill ride for Labour after their first term - when typical politician's arrogant behaviours kicks in.

Hooray!
