The Chinese and Russians have satellites just like the US that they can use to see whatever they want anywhere on the planet if they want to spy on something. Why try to rely on balloons that go where the wind blows them? It makes no sense.

A US jet shooting down something over Canada just shows how Canada can't defend itself and should actually become the 51st US state!

If the US actually wanted to help Canada, they would put Justin Trudeau in Jail for human rights violations. extreme stupidity or at least help ensure that he doesn't get re-elected!
people use too much logic in responding to an incident, without the appropriate basic mindset. It is only natural that if there are foreign objects that enter a country without proper permits, they need to be watched out for and take prompt and appropriate action.

I wonder if anyone bothered to check with the Canadian Space Agencies Stratospheric Balloon Base in Timmins Ontario. Right by the top of Lake Huron. Looks like one of there Auxiliary Balloons.
