Yes he did say recently that he is open fro talks, but in the beginning (even the last days before he invaded Ukraine) he rejected all Zelinskij’s attempts to come in contact with Putin. He simply rejected and ignored all telephone and diplomatic calls from both Zelinskij and from pentagon in USA. He (Putin) was so sure that this will only be a 3 days military special operation. It turned out a nightmare for him. It is understandable that he does not want to lose face, but there is no way out for Putin from this situation and he can only thank himself for that.

Talking is better than more bloodshed. It also gives Putin a way out by diplomacy and thus saving face which makes it less likely that he will stubbornly fight on, risking a pointless escalation in the conflict, and dragging in NATO ,with the risk of spreading the war beyond the Ukraine.

1. Is there a guarantee that Russia will stop the war?
2. Is Russia willing to leave Ukraine unconditionally?
3. Is Russia willing to return 5 Ukrainian territories that have been occupied?
4. Is Russia willing to bear all of Ukraine's losses due to the Russian invasion?
5. Is Russia responsible for the tens of thousands of Ukrainians who have died in the war?
If not then the only one thing for Ukraine is to fight to the last drop of blood

It’s funny how now that Russia is obviously losing this war, so many people are pushing for diplomacy and negotiations. And those are the same people who were as bold as hell shouting and calling for smashing Ukraine and redrawing the Europe’s map.

There is neither a political nor a diplomatic platform for any kind of negotiations. As mentioned many times before, Putin has no business in Ukraine. Take all your forces out of Ukraine and resign as a president of Russian. Only then we can talk about negotiating between Ukraine and a Russia (if Russia still exists in the same format).

Does anybody seriously believe that Putin, would be showing openness to reopening negotiations, if he wast in trouble and at minimum needs to buy time.

In my opinion, Putin is biding for time. He needs and wants winter to slow down the Ukranian counter offensive and serious losses he is occurring. With the Russian mass mobilization and winter slowdown it will also be an ideal opportunity to get his troops trained and battle hardened with less losses and come fall of winter around March next year will go into high gear once again to take over Ukraine. Zelenski, knows this and he will push as far as he can until winter sets in. There simply seems no way for talks.
