  • King Charles III won't have to pay inheritance tax

    From axios.com

In the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's death last Thursday, King Charles III inherited a realm of wealth and he doesn't have to pay inheritance tax on any of it. Driving the news: A rule introduced in 1993 by the U.K. government safeguards the royal family's assets from being wiped out if two monarchs were to die in a short period of time, Business Insider reports. The Queen Mother passed away 20 years ago in 2002, exercising the first part of the provision. By the numbers: Charles inherits the Duchy of Lancaster estate, which racked in $27 million in revenue for the Queen last year. The Crown Estate, estimated to be ... (full story)

A common rule for all perhaps? One rule for them and one for the rest of us peasants.....

Saying this, as mentioned in my earlier post, this topic is going give quite a bit of soundbite for those in favour of abolishment.

To bad for King Charles III. Now he'll reveal his colors.

Doesn't have to pay, and so he probably won't.

Showing himself to be an icon of the self-centered, pampered elite the world over.

With far, far more than he needs, little of it worked for, and far, far to selfish and without concern for others to pay it into the coffers of the nation, to help everyone.........like everyone else has to.

After all, he's the king, the owner and holder of the monarchy. Why should a king pay taxes to his own realm?

The new monarch does not pay inheritance tax because if they were made to do so there would not be a monarchy within a few generations. It is the same principle with farms in the UK. Farms are inheritance tax exempt to ensure the continuation of the farming industry. If a 40% levy was applied each time a farm was passed on, then farming in the UK would not exist.
Inheritance tax is daylight robbery - especially on earned income that had already been taxed to the hilt.

Ignored
Likewise for hard earned money and property that parents so feverishly save to pass on to their children - only to be taxed 40%? Its gone in 1 GEN!!!!

To draw a parallel between the monarchs and us peasants will always be unbalanced. Us peasants have to work, the monarch, some will argue - always have us peasants footing their bills.
