Britain’s next prime minister to be announced as country tackles worsening cost-of-living crisis

The next prime minister of the U.K. will be announced Monday following a grueling, and at times bitter, leadership contest within the ruling Conservative Party. The announcement is expected at 12:30 p.m. London time and will be delivered by Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee, which is a group of Conservative Members of Parliament who aren’t government ministers. The leadership election was triggered when current Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced he would be resigning on July 7. It came after a wave of ministers and backbenchers resigned, with many voicing a lack of confidence in their party leader. ... (full story)

I hope that she will have the same steel and grit not to mention sense of purpose that Margaret had. Whether you agree with her is largely secondary to the need for strong leadership in difficult times.

It certainly does but this skills based system has been delayed for years whilst having a system that expanded the lower skills labour supply which stopped investment in capital and benefitted middle and higher income households at the expense of the working classes. It was impossible to put those arguments forward without being called a racist.

The stupidity of the media playing the trumpets that UK was trying to follow Aussis point system is TOTALLY nonsense.

The point based system has already been in placed for decades and thats how professional immigrants come in by. Quite a number of the people we employed are from overseas and they came in based on points, ie education qualification based!

Saying this, the system that is broken is on illegal immigrants, sad to say.
