  • US sending $1 billion more military aid to outgunned Ukraine

    From apnews.com

The U.S. announced it will send an additional $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine, as America and its allies provide longer-range weapons they say can make a difference in a fight where Ukrainian forces are outnumbered and outgunned by their Russian invaders. President Joe Biden and his top national security leaders said Wednesday the U.S. is moving as fast as possible to get critical weapons to the fight, even as Ukrainian officials protest that they need more, faster, in order to survive. The latest package, the U.S. said, includes anti-ship missile launchers, howitzers and more rounds for the High Mobility ... (full story)

Let's also stop the stupidity of your handguns/guns in your own backyard first.

Won't be too surprised if you receive the first nuke by being a provocateur all these years.

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you. Merkel and Schröder did too. We have been doing business with Russia. And I think all EU leaders and leaders from the rest of the world would be willing to drop any and all sanctions to Russia today if Russia was willing to stop the war. We traded with Russia and we believed in Russia to an extend where are now deeply dependent on them. But Russia has shown that it is not a reliable partner.

On the contrary we also need to see things from a Russia perspective and it takes two to a tango as it is said. From a Russia perspective I am certain that NATO has acted provocative. NATO is seen generally seen as the enemy in Russia and seeing the enemy exercise on the borders to Russia had the same effect to the Russians as it has to us when the Russians exercise on the border to us.

Would it all have happened anyway? probably yes but only one person knows that. In any case we are not so innocent as we want to be imho.

Good post. And I would give you a like if it wasn’t for some of the last lines saying something about NATO being provocative. This is simply not true. It is not a NATO problem nor it is anyone else’s problem that Russian brainwashed kgb fat asses have been growing up with that ridiculous hatred towards west and NATO. NATO has done nothing to be labeled as an aggressor and provocator.
Many people confuse peace keeping operation performed by UN with NATO activity. This should be kept clear in order to avoid confusion and misunderstandings.

Russia has always been welcomed to all NATO exercises and has been kept informed by NATO about everything NATO does and plans to do. Russia is the one who cut these ties and did not want to involve diplomacy in order to solve potential issues.
The war that Russia started is Putin’s and only Putin’s own choice and decision and there is no need to find other excuses for that. Putin and the people around him are the ones who have the full responsibility for what’s been done in Ukraine.

Edit:
Besides, a fun fact - Russia did not want NATO country bordering Russian and considers this as a major security threat. Now I ask how many more NATO countries will Russia border if Russia takes over Ukraine? Isn’t this a fucking stupid argument by Putin? People are not stupid. NATO is not stupid. Everybody with a common sense thinking knows why Russia invaded Ukraine. It’s called megalomania.

Fake news. If this news is true, then Europe and USA will not send a single weapon to Ukraine. People have to think before they choose to believe this kind of bs. No one of the major European and USA politicians has ever suggested something like “Give Putin what he wants” and no one ever will.

Yeah.....fake news for the un-informed.

What many people don't know OR don't want to admit: 1) Russia already won, 2) the corrupt "elites"/politicians don't want this war to end, 3) the military industry don't want this to end, 4) Ukraine is where they launder money from US and EU taxpayers.
Good luck.

You must be young not to know history.

In any war since WWII, gov'ts took away the guns from the public before they slaughtered them. In these cases, the public had no means to defend themselves especially from these elites.....who don't care about no one else but their interests.

How will you defend yourself from the new, fellow Brits?

ONE Billion can reduce gas price for your own people

Gas is over $5 a gallon right now.
The last time a barrel of crude oil cost this much was in July 2014.
At that point a gallon of gas only cost about $3.54.

Let’s be clear: Oil companies don’t need to be charging this much for gas.
They’re just doing it to make excess profits.

Who wants to tell him? Sending one billion, with own people are suffering.

There is an art to researching and articulating an intelligent argument - why don't you apply yourself to that activity with the aim, that one day, people will take you seriously.
Meanwhile other people might consider buying oil shares and defence manufacturing shares whilst the Ukrainian conflagration still rumbles on.

Do you know that the WaPo is considered as FAKE NEWS in the US?? Do you know Bezos owns it?
Do you know that everytime the Pentagon pushes for wars, the very generals who are behind it get board seats in companies like Lockheed and Raytheon upon retirement?....or end up as lobbyists for countries who produce/sell arms??
Do you even know if you're alive?

Over 1/3 of what the pentagon plans on sending to Ukraine was left behind in Afghastan!

These weapons are great but if there's no one left to use them what good is it? Sorry but it was a good try but Ukraine will fall - it's only a matter of time.

I have read it now, after calming down from laughter.
"A "drawdown," according to documentation available from the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, allows the president in certain circumstances to withdraw existing weapons, ammunitions and material from existing U.S. military stocks and provide that to other nations. "
"According to a fact sheet published on the Defense Department website, about $350 million of the $1 billion announced comes from presidential drawdown authority. This drawdown, the twelfth of its kind so far, includes 18 155mm howitzers, 36,000 rounds of 155mm ammunition, 18 tactical vehicles, additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, four additional tactical vehicles and spare parts and other equipment. "
The only way is nuclear standoff or boots on the ground.

On the contrary, you must be to old to have forgotten recent histories of usa provocating wars and invading other countries in the name of fake peace.

Talking about fending ownself against other by guns, usa is the only one that surpasses EVERY SINGLE COUNTRIES you can count.

As for UK - I just hope our ignorant lot do not follow the footsteps of those in usa.

Just because the politicians dont want it doesnt mean that the voters agree. I am a strong believer in the sanctions and I truly hope this would end the Putin regime. Unfortunately it seems that the sanctions will hurt us more than it hurts Russia. Why? Because China and India has decided to buy all the oil and gas that we do not buy. Of course they get a solid discount but it still keep the Russian ship floating.

That leaves us with two possibilities: 1) we escalate the sanctions to any company dealing with China/India or 2) we terminate the sanctions. I really dont see any meaning in just hurting ourselves instead of Russia. Obviously I would be ready to take any pain for Ukraine if I knew it helped. Problem is that it doesnt.

I can’t say I trust our politicians, but given the situation and the authority one needs to have, this is the best alternative imo.
