    The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 7.8% in the 12 months to April 2022, up from 6.2% in March. The largest upward contributions to the annual CPIH inflation rate in April 2022 came from housing and household services (2.76 percentage points, principally from electricity, gas and other fuels, and owner occupiers' housing costs) and transport (1.47 percentage points, principally from motor fuels and second-hand cars). . Not unexpected but it's still quite something to see it confirmed in black-and-white. Will this be a peak IF energy prices calm down or get no worse?

what does 160.700 means?
The 'real' rate of inflation is large (Inflation rate - the BOE lending rate) so buying GBP assets can't be attractive.

Inflqtion has inscreased about 200 bp if we compare to the old result. Not a good new for GBP expect the datas from the labour market GBP's GDP Growth rate is down. The vision of the BOE about economics remains pessimist. This is a sign of a recession for UK in my point of view and the situation Between Ukraine et Russia remains bad. If Russia ut gaz to the EuroZone the Euro could go down and the GBP too because these pairs are too risky

Good news for gbp but gbpusd sank 60+pops
The inflation has increased about 200 bp. The result remain lower compare to the expectations but remains too higher compare to the old result. Except the CPI index GDP datas was not fabulous and we got a pessimist vision of the economy from the BOE. We can't only focus on the result of the labour market. We have to look for more macroeconomics indicators to give some ideas about the future direction of GBP. There is too the bad situation in Ukraine who weigh on the economy specially with balance trade. We can't predict as well what GBP will do but in my point of view i'm specially looking for long EURGBP because of the critical return of BCE about hiking interst rate and GDP, labour datas who remains strong btw it's not fabulous but we can see some positive result compare to expectation and old result.

This concept of "peak inflation" being determined month to month is the most ridiculous notion in economics. You can only determine a PEAK in hindsight.

PLUS most of these CB's are incorrect about REAL inflation that hits working class families much more than the elite.

Absolutely. My comment was an invitation for others to comment.
If inflation in the UK was measured just on retail energy prices alone it would be at least 30% . Further increases are expected in October .
