Somehow I feel the whole thing worked. The whole noise may have put Mr. Putin off. He loves the element of surprise. But good for both parties. Russia should go take a chill pill. Ukraine will never belong to Russia. That was in the past. When Crimea was invaded what we heard was that people living there wanted to be Russians.

you seem to be just another uneducated dumb... you can't even understand what you read... or... wait a second... can you actually read, btw?... what republic are you talking about?... all of the major now so called "ukraininan" cities and town have been established by either one or another Russian prince, tsar or tsarina way before this territory had become one of the Soviet republics that took place only after the revolution of 1917... before it was a part of The Russian Empire split into several different provinces like Kiev province, Chernigov province and others... ( btw both Poland and Finland also used to be Russian provinces before 1917... only Lenin and bolsheviks let them go and become independent)...
here is the list of those most populated cities.. check their history out... and no Turks at all... just some Tatars in Crimea when they took some territory of ancient Greek colonies... the word "Ukraine" itself in regards to this territory first appeared only in the end of 19 century and the meaning that this was the periphery of great Russian Empire... in any case over 85% of now Ukrainian population are ethnic Russians as there has never been such an ethnicity as "Ukrainian" in the history of human kind...
