  • We’re downgrading China’s growth and currency as challenges mount

    From think.ing.com

Let me give you just a snapshot of some of the big problems China is facing right now. In July, the major city of Zhengzhou suffered from serious flooding. Zhengzhou is known for its smartphones and semiconductor production. The floods hit factory operations and intensified chip shortages. As a result, we can expect higher prices for our hand-held devices. A month later, China suspended some sea and air freight around Shanghai due to a new breakout of Covid-19. This resulted in major congestion affecting the import of commodities and the exports of goods and parts. We don't expect things to ease there until late ... (full story)

It's time that America and Canada take their jobs back. I think that is exactly what is happening and it will happen. Not going to happen over night, but it will happen.

Why do people think like this? What? You think North Americans are fighting tooth and nail over $2 dollar/hr iPhone assembly jobs?

Those jobs are going to South Asia and South-east Asian countries. If they ever stop making things abroad in developing countries, that's because they've found ways to automate it, either way it means that those jobs are never coming back.

The jobs will be back here. We won't be working for $2/hr here in North America. No cheap labour here, they will be paying $20/hr and up. It's how it works here.

Not gonna happen, unless America goes full protectionist mode and imposes blanket tariffs on the entire world. Nike has moved at least 30% of their production capacity to Vietnam. Apple has also diversified iPhone and iPad production away from China to other low-income countries like India and Vietnam. It's not conjecture, it's already in process.

First of all no reason to curse, be professional and mature. Or I won't respond to your useless idiotic messages.
They are not lazy, they work. I live in Canada and have travelled to USA. Everyone works here very hard. But they demand higher salary, because we like our lifestyle luxury here. We are democracy here and we do not work for cheap. But when we are awarded here, we do work hard. Yes we can take our jobs back and that is exactly one of the things that is happening in economy today. We will take our jobs back. Not all of them but most of them we will. And no we won't work for $2/hr, it will be $20 and up. But both will be winners North America and China. Business as usual. As I see you are from Pakistan, and I understand that you have major issues with water, what is your country doing about that?

Water crisis looms large in Pakistan, may face absolute scarcity by 2040. Amid the rising population and climate change, the availability of fresh water is becoming worrisome in South Asia, particularly in Pakistan, which may face absolute water scarcity by 2040.

Firstly I like your energy but I think we will have to agree to disagree.

Some jobs may return to NA (North America) but the majority won't. Textile jobs are too labor intensive and low skill to perform here in NA. There may be companies willing to invest in the automation to bring chips back to NA but clothing apparel - forgetaboutit.

Guess the maga virus had indeed spread further than I though it would be.....mcga??? Wow......

Making one's country back is not about taking jobs back from developing country, otherwise all these so called developed countries would be back paddling into dominion of cheap labour.

Paying hefty labour costs to mcga....what a joke that sounds, how do one stay competitive if one is paying minimum 10times on labour costs.

These nonsensical maga, mcga shouting needs to be buried and soon. Making a country great ain't achieved through such petty fights of jobs.

If you can get the Board of each company who manufactures and assembled in other countries to agree to your stance, then perhaps you can start shouting maga, mcga......otherwise, it is just a waste of time.
