    The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.8 percent in April on a seasonally adjusted basis after rising 0.6 percent in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 4.2 percent before seasonal adjustment. This is the largest 12-month increase since a 4.9-percent increase for the period ending September 2008. The index for used cars and trucks rose 10.0 percent in April. This was the largest 1-month increase since the series began in 1953, and it accounted for over a third of the seasonally adjusted all items increase. The ... (full story)

  • U.S. consumer prices rose 4.2% in April from a year ago, faster than expected

    Inflation accelerated at its fastest pace in more than 12 years for April as the U.S. economic recovery kicked into gear and energy prices jumped higher, the Labor Department reported Wednesday. The Consumer Price Index, which measures a basket of goods as well as energy and housing costs, rose 4.2% from a year ago, compared to the Dow Jones estimate for a 3.6% increase. The monthly gain was 0.8%, against the expected 0.2%. Excluding volatile food and energy prices, the core CPI increased 3% from the same period in 2020 and 0.9% on a monthly basis. Fed already said they aren't even discussing tapering in the near future and have the tools necessary to deal with inflation.

Its "transitory."

Here's the even bigger picture. If inflation is on par with what it was in 2008 does anyone remember what happened during that bubble and crisis?

The dollar got spanked.

They aren't raising rates because they can't.

Also if you think the fed didn't have these numbers before us you're delusional

This is just the start for CPI. As I stated last month, the full effect will be seen in Q2 and here it is.

Inflation means higher for gold n should be for usd too, but fed will not raise the rate so I long for gold
