but that is contrary to the news being reported over here,
just last weekend there were approx 2.5 M vaccines administered in the UK with the numbers falling off drastically due to the blocked shortages.

The EU has categorically NOT blocked any exports to UK.

Our fact checking policy where possible focuses on original sources . In this particular case EU and UK Gov.
Perhaps the shortfalls are due action by the Indian Government which HAS recently acknowledged blocking exports to UK?. however that is just speculation on my part.

The EU has exported an estimated (as of 25th March 2021) 40mio shots worldwide including 10mio shots to UK (figures March 10th - 34mio exported /9mio exported to UK) despite having a serious shortfall default in delivery of pre-ordered and pre-financed supplies.

The UK as a major early volume vaccine producer is known to have exported ZERO.
The US has invoked the Defense Production Act choking export of raw material required in vaccine production and no figures are available a to how many doses US has exported if any, though a recent announcement promised doses to Mexico
As of March 10th India, home to the Serum Institute, the world biggest vaccine manufacturer, had produced over 80mio doses and exported 58mio. Leaving only 23mio doses for India itself.
These are government figures.
IMHO In emergency conditions it is reasonable for all countries and blocks reserve the right to safeguard their own populations. (Vis US DPA) and threatening to block exports to countries that monopolize domestic production to the expense of reasonable reciprocal sharing are legitimate subjects or both criticism and export embargoes.

ok , you are closer to the action in the UK than we are over here , no question. it would be interesting to hear from someone in NHS who actually knows whats going on there?
For example we are lucky in NZ's smallness - my nephew mountain bikes with the Director General of Health here ( Ashley Bloomfield a family friend ) but obviously we don't have that relationship with the media. and i prefer to only post what i know to be direct and personal experience.
