  • Bitcoin boom indicates why Australian economy will get worse

    From news.com.au

All I’ve been thinking about is bitcoin. It has gone through the roof. The price of a bitcoin was over $A50,000 for a day or two over the weekend. I’m incredulous (although I own a small fraction of a bitcoin, so I’m not angry). Surely when the price of a bitcoin goes over $A50,000 that is a sign of speculative insanity. I mean, bitcoin isn’t really useful, not at all. This is a bubble. Surely. Surely, surely, surely. And it’s not just bitcoin. The world appears to have gone mad, because if you look at stock markets around the world, they’re hitting new records too. And all this is happening as ... (full story)

Good article
It’s always been like this. People (traders) get very excited very soon and panic the other day. All emotions.

I am long AUD, Bitcoin has been looking like a bull trap for some time now. Plus, news is normally late or based off of manipulation.

“After the last global recession in 2009, the global economy rebounded in 2010 but, in the following years, long-term growth forecasts were repeatedly downgraded,” they said. It takes a year for people to realise long-term economic growth won’t go back to where it was, they argue. After that, you get a very crappy decade."

The last line sums up my prediction for the next few years. I read somewhere that employment recovery gradients from shocks like this get shallower each time. A decade IMHO is optimistic!!!!

hmmm bitcoin..makes me wonder...can not actually BUY anything really with BC so i still stay away especially when i see a parabolic increase in 'value'. If i bought at $400 and now at $34000 i would maybe sell some. I did buy gold, a lot, at $500, sold at first parabolic hit of $1900, bought at $1500, and again at $1100 area. Sold at $1900 half of it again. and now buying again.
It is fine to buy and hold BUT when i see parabolic action it is good to sell and buy as it goes down and run it up again.
i just do not see value in BC. I see it as a spec item that has the attention of greedy people, lemmings basically. Yes, they may drive it to $100,000 and then overnite drop it while many sit holding and trying to sell to no one that will buy. NO intrinsic value. At least with my gold i can make jewellery if i want.

just my opinion. do not get mad at me if you have BC and will keep holding it. I have been wrong many times!

House passes bill calling on Pence to remove Trump

    From thehill.com|Jan 12, 2021

video The House on Tuesday passed legislation calling on Vice President Pence to tap his constitutional authority to remove President Trump from office in response to the president’s role in the deadly mob attack on the Capitol last week. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) led the resolution, which calls on Pence, joined by other members of the Cabinet, to oust Trump by activating the 25th Amendment, which allows for the president’s removal if he’s deemed “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.” Promoting Trump’s removal, Raskin, a constitutional law scholar, said it’s imperative that Congress send the message “that what took place is absolutely intolerable and unacceptable.” “It is critical for us now to make clear that this was an absolute dereliction of presidential duty,” Raskin said. The bill passed 223-205. One GOP lawmaker, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), joined with every voting Democrat in approving the measure. Most Republicans, however, opposed the effort. Some defended Trump’s actions as harmless; others denounced the president’s behavior, but argued against his removal so close to the end of his term. Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.), senior Republican on the Rules Committee, sai tweet at 11:34pm: U.S. House votes 223-205 to approve resolution calling on VP Pence to remove President Trump via the 25th Amendment; Pence has announced will not invoke the 25th Amendment, rendering the House resolution largely symbolic. https://t.co/upf3UNnqyP tweet at 11:35pm: House To Vote On Trump Impeachment Approx. 3pm Wednesday
