Britain is full of people too scared of change, most of our food used to be cheap sourced locally or from around the world hardly any of it from Europe but now they've gone soft like the Europeans. It must be the food.
Don, diplomacy and international relations are not dating. You cannot meet and break at will. We cannot take our islands and move to another part of the world. Whether we like it or not France, Belgium, Denmark etc will be our neighbours.
This compromise is a massive concession from the EU comparing to their original position. If you remember: the EU started with 10 year transition 8% cut in quota and automatic tariff penalties if the UK decides to cut the EU quota after the transition ends. The UK original position was 35% cut and 3 years transition with no penalties. We got 25% cut, 5.5 years and no penalties. From any angle the EU moved more. What is most important in 5 years if we want we can do whatever we want with it and the EU cannot legally retaliate.
I think it can be credited to the UK government to prioritise the sunset clauses other immediate concessions. The same as with NI protocol it can be cancelled by the NI assembly in 3 years from now.
