Don't thank me, buddy. I'm not looking for approval here. To me it's shocking how some people have no empathy and total disregard for their fellow citizens life and well being. Have you ever lived there? The US has no healthcare for most of its people, never had. Healthcare is a luxury commodity over there, only for the rich. Its a great country for entrepreneurs, as with money you can buy anything, literally. But lower class and in the past decades even the middle class, have healthcare compared to 3rd world countries or worse. So its not a surprise they are hit so hard, they suffer even with regular flu every year.

If a regular surgery can bankrupt you, thats a definition of "not for most people", as in most other countries, you don't pay for them, nor insane money for staying in a hospital. Doesn't one night in the hospital cost like $10k? Aren't drugs 10 times more expensive than just around the corner in Canada? Come on, the US healthcare system is a big scam. Most people don't go to the doctor if they don't really have something serious, because prices for everything are insane.

I agree with you on everything you said. The only thing I will change is heaven for crony capitalism ( especially the health care system ) instead of a great country for entrepreneurs. Yes, I lived in the US for 14 years from 1995 to 2009.
I remember once having a really bad stomach virus and ended up in the emergency room. They took my details, told me to wait, and gave me a bucket in case I needed to throw up. After about 20 min I started to feel better and my girlfriend at the time told me that if I feel better that we should live because I had no insurance. We decide to live and they still wanted to charge me just for walking through the door. It's absolutely insane that the richest country in the world can't provide its citizens with free health care especially with the amount of taxes they give to the government.
The government literally gets away with murder on this one.
Oh by the way all the members of Congress and the president get free health care. How can you let this raping keep going on and on?

You are not required to have health insurance any longer. There was an individual mandate that required people to "purchase" insurance but that was struck down.

I can't critique you for your choice of who you want running the executive branch because my only political leaning is that all politicians are bums and liers. But, I don't understand how you think an Independent who very skillfully used the democratic party to catipult himself onto the national stage would be able to get the legislative branch to be compitent. Trump couldn't get the legislature to be worth a damn. Biden wouldn't be able to get the legislature to be worth a damn. Jesus of Nazarith could float down from heaven above and even he couldn't turn congress into a functioning body.

About your uncle and your friend, cases like those are way too common. I think about 2/3 of all bankruptcies in the US are linked to a medical issue (either a high bill or not being able to work) This is a real problem.

so sad to hear about ! huge people likely die due desperate & irresponsible activities of others ! economy must go forwards side by side at the cost huge sufferings & deaths likely , so shuffle reshuffle people may be necessary , one group to work for another group at risk and continues to the sack of life sustain!

An uncle of mine had a heart bypass surgery that cost $200,000. He could not pay it because he was buying, fixing, and selling cars for a living and had no private insurance. He had to declare bankruptcy because how was he able to pay that much money at 60 years old. Another friend of mine had a 30k bill because his girlfriend gave birth and spent 3 days in the hospital. No one denies you treatment at the hospital in the US. Is just that after they fix your health problem they give a financial one. That was before the Obamacare era. Now I'm not sure but it seems that everyone is required to buy their own private insurance which is like 300 dollars a month or pay a fine if you don't want the insurance. That's a big expense considering you also pay taxes and because the fine is cheaper than the insurance some people chose to pay the fine.
This is a political problem that's why Bernie Sanders would have been the best president for the people and the worst for crony capitalist.
You guys missed out on Bernie twice. With Trump and Biden is like choosing between the crazy grandpa and the one with dementia. The Republicans have no problem with Biden being president because he has conservative tendencies. It's the reason Obama picked him as a running mate.
Biden is not the solution to that country inequalities and wealth gap problems but for now, he can at least get the mad man out of the White House.

(and nobody seems to care) And you ask about what if you have to stay in the hospital overnight. Wont that cost $10k? Sometimes. That is part of the insanely inflated prices you were talking about. All of these inflated costs (like $550 for a bag of saline ((salt water))) show up in your mailbox added together on a bill (many times double charged) with some ridiculous number like $375,000. But at the bottem of the bill it says you owe $2,157 and this months payment is $265.57.

Is this idiotic? Yes.

The financials of the US healthcare system are mind numbingly incoherent. But I think there is a misconception that a broad swath of the US population puts off surgies or going to a physcian because they cannot aford it.

When you say most people dont go to the doctor unless they have something serious could be true for some people but I don't think for most people. If you go to the poorest sections of the US you will see most people eating a double bigmac tweeting on facebook with the latest iphone complaining about how their insulin is just too damn high even though their insulin is subsidized through the state and they pay $1.47.

Again the group with the largest risk to financial ruin is the middle/lower-middle class. But if the US stays on track there will be no middle class to worry about.
