Explaining the USD’s Reaction at the Fed’s Jackson Hole Announcement
The much-awaited Jackson Hole Symposium created volatility on the currency market. As expected, the Fed announced that it alters its price mandate by letting inflation run higher than the 2% target occasionally. But Powell’s speech, while priced in by the market, was not that clear in regard to the Fed’s view about average inflation; what is the Fed’s definition of average?
