New Zealand delays election after virus outbreak in Auckland

Officials believe the virus was reintroduced to New Zealand from abroad but haven’t yet determined how. The Auckland outbreak has grown to 49 infections, all thought to be connected, giving health officials hope the virus isn’t spreading beyond the cluster. Ardern had the option of delaying the election for up to about two months. Trumps only hope of winning is a delay....for a really long time. NZ's pm ideal time to win is right now....yet she delayed.....for the good of the country....but you wouldnt understand....and neither would Trump

america's legal system is different from the commonwealth's.

commonwealth countries incumbent PM can call snap elections before their tenure ends.

Singapore just held its elections, aprox 1 year earlier than expected.

New Zealand is also at approximately around the same timeline so yes they do have the luxury of delaying it. Not at the PM's benefit tho, as pretty sure she was banking on winning it by building on the momentum from her impressive covid response
