That's really good news for Euro region. First time they agreed to share money/depth. North was not spending the money coming from Trade Surplus, and South was getting into more depth day by day.

But I don't think it will be enough to save Euro region. Problems are deeper than that.

Some people from England said the EU couldn't survive without their measly €10 billion contribution.

Getting schooled again.

BAM €750 billion out of the blue !

Caution: all member states need to agree on this (which they most likely will not). Let's also not forget the little disagreement brewing between the ECB and the German high court. Moreover, this 750b is being printed out of thin air and most of it is a "grant", meaning helicopter money which doesn't need to be paid back. The Euro does not look attractive at all, especially with a majority of member states paying a negative rate.

For someone who sits on here only commenting on news articles 24/7, I thought you would have had a bit more intelligence to understand where that money comes from... Guess not.

Depends on the eyes that see. I dont think this is good news. EU has developed into a socialism experiment where the "rich north" os giving away money to the poor south. EU was once matter of free trade. Now it is a social union granting social benefits et cetera. I am not saying this to offend my friends in the south. I really love you. But it is a matter of discipline to get things running and you havent had the discipline to do what it takes. Now we all pay for it.

The only bad thing with UK leaving EU is that North lost a big partner in our sceptism towards EU. German immidiately turned to France and now we see the conequences.

What you call a socialist experiment is already going on in the US for the last 150 years, it's called tax distribution. Every country does it/.

Absolutely. Every country does it. But for that to make sense require some kind of equality between the people/states who pay and people/states who receives. The problem here is that this is cross border tax distribution between countries that are run quite differently. If I told an Italian how much I pay in tax on every penny I make they would puke. Would I like to pay less. Of course. But I also pay my taxes knowing that I pay for the common good and that if something happens to me or my family then we are taken good care of. I am not paying my taxes to take care of Italians who have run laissez faire for generations.

You are so wrong about southern Europe. Think again. Northern Europe acted as a farmer, feeding the southern pigs to eat them later. We do not sit at the table for equal participation. The north sits at the table on chairs and the south is served on the plate, being eaten like pigs. I was always against paying us to stop producing and buy what the countries of northern Europe wanted to continue producing at high prices. As we were told, we should be a country for services and tourism. It was the role that the EU assigned us. All of our industry has been liquidated with money from the EU. Then, they began to lend money to families and businesses to create the illusion of wealth. People fell like ducks or pigs, going to the slaughterhouse unaware of the trick they had fallen into.
I was also against it. You know why? Because I prefer to be poor and be my landlord than to be poor and have northern European countries as landlords. I refused all the "help" you wanted to give me. How smart I was. Others were not so smart. And, of course, all politicians on both sides who are corrupt and only think about how to do more and more business. The money business.

How do you think the north got so "rich"? Selling to whom? China? India?
Where do you think the north surplus comes from? If all the people in the south had the discipline to say no to "help" from the north, you people in the north would not have the surplus and would not be so "rich".

Remember 1940? Who sent food and clothing to wealthy northerners like Finland? We are proudly. And we will do it again for any northern country without thinking twice ... Just ask for help one day and you will see that we give our own shirt to those who need it most.

Think better. Think smarter. South, is not what they are selling you.

I am tired of this type of speech towards the peoples of the south.

Be alright. And visit us anytime. You will feel very welcome here

@Banditten has it nailed.
Its not complicated.
The issue is one of ingrained endemic, institutionalised endemic national CORRUPTION.
When the Greek crisis loomed, in the subsequent bailout, the flat stone was PARTIALLY lifted and the extent of the corruption there was exposed. What crawled out was not sufficiently publicised.
Many media choose to demonise the "draconian Terms the Nasty Germans were imposing)
And to dwell on it was unsympathetic to the poor Greek people who were suffering. Is it coming back in Greece.. FOR SURE. Like cockroaches.. such a tradition of corruption is hard to eliminate.

There is corruption in all societies. But in Southern Europe it continues to DANGEROUSLY distort the REAL economies and frustrates their democratic management. As well as its reach into the heart of government, politics and legal frameworks. The secret is that EVERYONES in on it except the bottom 20-30%. Its endemic.
So instead of a democratic majority saying screw this.. lets change the system.. everyones afraid their little slice will disappear too.
Its a great system NOT.

I completely agree.
But it must be remembered that the corrupters were from the north. They were the ones who corrupted to sell the products of their thriving industries.
There is no corruption without corruptors! Nobody is exempt from responsibilities in the draconian process of building an united Europe. There will always be some better than others. There is good and bad everywhere.
It would be interesting for the people of northern Europe to know in depth what the Marshal plan was. And I mean, to know beyond the pink story that is told.
