    Estimates from the Labour Force Survey show that, between October to December 2017 and January to March 2018, the number of people in work increased, the number of unemployed people decreased and the number of people aged from 16 to 64 years not working and not seeking or available to work (economically inactive) also decreased. There were 32.34 million people in work, 197,000 more than for October to December 2017 and 396,000 more than for a year earlier. The people claiming unemployment benefit went up, but the unemployment rate remained the same. How does that work ( or not work as the case may be ) no pun intended ? Some dodgy basic arithmetic.

The the percentages are meaningless. There needs to be an extra couple of decimal places......dodgy basic arithmetic.

It may take up to 50,00+ to make a point change in the unemployment no.

Between 4.2% and 4.3% could be in the range of 50,000 - 120,000 workers

Claimant Count Change is data from last month.
Unemployment Rate is percentage data from last 3 months
