  • I have traded the forex for the past 11 years and a full time trader for the last 8 years. I trade as a business under an LLC.

For long term trades I use Interactive Brokers as my ECN. For short term trades and scalping, I use FXDD since they allow scalping with no rules. I average 6-30 trades a day and have well over 10,-12,000 trades.

My advice to everyone is to take a few forex courses and find a successful forex mentor and become his shadow. I believe you need to observe the market through the eyes of a live trading mentor and take their glasses and observe what they sees. You must learn from that and do your own trades. If you can't find a mentor, purchase a book related on the forex. When your in front of the computer and not getting in and out of trades, you should have a book opened. Read it over and over until you understand it. When your finished with it, grab another. Please, no requests for mentoring, I no longer have the time due to other ongoing projects.

Hello, I'd like to pay respect to you for your contributions to the forex community. I am reading the 7am-9am Big Dog strategy, and it makes a lot of sense. Will pluck up the courage to go live with your Big Dog soon.

Thank you,
Chris.

I have to admit that your recommendations are really good. And yes, taking a forex course is a good thing eventhough there are way too many "how to get rich" type of seminars and course that demand $4000 and promise you the moon. I found a great source for FX courses with a reputable instructors in top FX trading company and the things I have learned from those instructors are extrmely valuble. Things like always trade with the trend. Trade the daily chart, but look at the 4hr to refine your entry, and most importantly how to correctly construct a channel.

I teach myself Forex by reading recommendations and looking at charts drawn by professional forex analysts and learn from their reasoning. The charts they use and how they look at the big picture. I don't look for trading tips (just plaint signals) I look to see the forex world from the eyes of an experienced chartists and technical analysts.

I am happy to see some great people here on this forum and you are one of them. Your advise is excellent and I really wish that all of us newbies come to people like you not for adivse on the next best trading signal but to actually listen to your recommendations and do what's right: take a forex course and read a book by a good trader and learn something valuble.

If we all stop looking for that magic forex system that will make us rich and concentrate of improving, getting better, learning something new/exciting and most importantly be able to help others learn from our own mistakes.

My best trades are the once I lost most money on and had the courage to admit that I was wrong and I went back and spent hours figuring out what exactly did I do wrong. I entered a position in the center of well established channel. This thing could go up or down and had plenty of room to move against me and clearly the support lines were not the strongest and I went short. It's not the end of the world, I have learned from it and if I can one day help one less experienced trader avoid this mistake I will be very happy.
