let me be the first,...

some brokers says, that the oil is currently main indicator,...or was,...is it bullish or bearish?... not talking about forex,...but it should be corelated with the fall of dolar,...and elections in usa still not over yet as the second most important overall indicator,... thats how i see the trend .... let the pro say some more...

Here's a tip, and it's an easy one too. Just pull up a chart whose time-frame is weekly. That's all there is to it.

Following a trend is easy. I use MACD with default setting 12,26,9 on 1H or 4H and follow the oscillating lines. It can be a whole system alone by itself!

There are 2 ways to enter a trend:

1) early
2) late

if the trend is obvious then you've entered late.

You can enter early: put MA: 60, 13, 5 and EMA 60, 13 and see on D1: there are periods whan lines bunch together = consolidation. See how after a consolidation comes action. So consolidation is ALWAYS a signal of a begining trend.

Then put on your chart support and resistance - when price breaks start entering a position on M30, M15 in the direction of a breakout.

This is a method of entering early. You can even double (and more) your depo in a month if you catch sufficiently good action.

How do you know what the trend is?

Firstly, determine your personal trading time-frame.

1. If the graph on the chart starts in the bottom left hand corner and ends in the top right hand corner, the market is going UP.

2. If the graph on the chart starts in the top left hand corner and ends in the bottom right hand corner, the market is going DOWN.

3. If you are still confused, print it off and show it to a 5 year old...they will get it right EVERY time...LOL

The trend is the BEST friend you will ever have in the Forex market.

When you trade with the trend, even if you make a mistake, the market will get you out of your problem....If you make a mistake and you are fighting the trend ...YOU ARE STUFFED, BIG TIME !!!

I am sure the one who tries to recognize and enter the trend every time, he will be successful 70% to 80% of the times after some experience. How's that?

I started trading Forex about a year ago. Have traded futures for much longer (15+ years?).

Started a trading journal at DailyFX about 9 months ago.(ONLY FOR PEOPLE IN LIVE TRADES-Jacko's Pleasure and Pain conversations).

Lost interest there when a lot of young aggressive newbies came in.

This seems a more rational forum.

I trade only the euro/usd. I trade large lots. I follow the trend.

If you get your stops and TP levels right ,with a 70-80% success rate, and good mm, you will also achieve game over status. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, but my comments were aimed towards daytrader.I'm quite happy trading using pivots and trend lines to follow price.

Very simply for the period you wish to trade eg the day ahead, you calculate pivot levels based on the previous 24 hours. What I do is buy on a break above a pivot line or sell on a break below.I class a break as a one hour candle closing above/below a line . I always enter into a trade when the price has retraced to the line or a max of five pips from the line. If a line is broken but price does not come back to within 5 pips from the line , I don't take the trade.Ther's more to it than this , but that's basically how I enter a trade.

Sometimes i fade the trend just so that i could buy back later at a lower price to run the trend, i call this pip maximisation, this is done if i feel the spread is low enuff for me to scalp off a heavy correction (no point waiting if you could make money out of it) and buy back upon reversal.

The term trend itself is very much conjuncted to period factorization.
