Where to start programming? Help!

Hi Guys,

I have made a decision to start learning programming and the most important for me at this moment is mql4. The only problem is that I have never made a single code, never have been that IT guy.

Do you have any recommendation how to start the whole adventure?

Open MetaEditor ... then press F1 ... You will find here everything you need.

MQL4 is a pretty sophisticated language. Its documentation or help file have not been written to make it easy for beginners to learn how to program in mql4. It would be helpful for you to learn basic programming concepts first. Google "programming for beginners". There are several websites which teach basic programming.

hey guys, thanks for the fast feedback! I used to check Jim's guides but he told that they are pretty outdated and the new ones are 300 bucks.. but yeah, still better than nothing!! again, thank you for the help

This is all for building automated strategies. You can generate the code and look into it to learn what happens.

PoundPotamus, thank you for your helpful links, I’ll check it! I even subscribed on this thread, so it will help me not to lose sight of this thread where very good tips on how to work with a manual trade reference system collected. Just do not see a link for using the Sierra Charts. Do you have any?
