I don't know if this is a naive question, but I am a beginner and I am trying to observe the market on the 15min charts while I am studying (for university) the whole day.

I just realized that half an hour ago, 14:45 GMT or 15:00 GMT. most major crosses had some unexpected movement (check the pictures from 15min time frames)

I tried to look the news, there was nothing important on the internet.

Am I missing something?

I forgot to take a snapshot of GBPUSD which fell by almost 350 pipettes too during the past 30 minutes.

Only the USDJPY didn't have as much volatility and seemed to be going normal.

EDIT: Pipettes, yes. Thanks, Pipocrates. Not pips.

Only the USDJPY...
Ignored
From the morning moods were rather miserable and in the end cracked, move 30-40 pips never mind new

470 pips?
Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.

Fiscal cliff comments by Obama, I believe.
Play the players, not the cards.

Not 470 pips on the E/$, but about 50 pips. The move was purely technical in nature, ahead of a meeting between Obama and the Congress re: fiscal cliff. Once the meeting was over, and after postive comments from the Speaker, the market started correcting. The move south was a result of a break back into an old trend, or a break of a previous support that held the market up during the NY session, depending on your perspective. Good trading and best of luck.

Also I notice you're looking at the USDCHF. Not sure what the Swiss Central Bank is up to these days, but last I knew they were effectively pegging the Swissy to the Euro @ about the 1.20 region (I guess I should find out myself!) - I can see in your thumbnails that the price action on the swissy and the euro look inverted.
